Big Brother

Thank you.

I think it will run after the olympics. I donā€™t think they are brave enough to try anything new in the other slots.

There is no way BB would be ready for January.

Yeah I agree. It would take at least 6 months to sort out the studio etc. The olympics are just lining up. I still wish they would have used that event to launch something fresh for the viewers.

Could you imagine 7 having something like The Masked Singer launching out of the olympics. It would have got in excess of 1.5 million for sure.

Was it you who suggested The Circle?

Iā€™ve checked it out today. Itā€™s so addictive. Iā€™m on episode 3. Iā€™ve already saved the US version on Netflix to advise me when it begins later this year.

Iā€™m not entirely sure what audience Seven is hoping to find with a rebooted BB.

The original audience is now much older and has largely moved on from this type of show.

And younger viewers (teenagers and young adults) wonā€™t watch something that their parentā€™s generation thought was cool 20 years ago, especially on Seven with their sepia-tinted brand/image.

If Seven is serious about going for younger viewers then they need a more holistic approach than just one or two shows. If they arenā€™t ready to risk a full network relaunch then start by relaunching a couple of the multichannels so that they at least have something that skews young and then go from there.

Yes, although I think others have suggested it as well. I find it addictive as well. Been watching S2 in the UK every night. I finally was up to date last night and disappointed I didnā€™t have any extra episodes to watch. I really donā€™t know how the 7 audience would have treated this show but I do think the 10 audience would love The Circle.

I think itā€™s got more of Nine/9Go vibe to be honest. Itā€™s the freshest reality format Iā€™ve seen in years.

disagreed. Marcus Bentley, the voiceover of BBUK did 19 seasons of Big Brother.

Imagine if Ten picked up The Circle and airs it up against Big Brother next year.

It says online: On 9 October 2018, it was announced that three localised versions have been commissioned by Netflix for three countries; the United States, Brazil, and France.

Not sure if that means it is available for the Australian market and if it means those versions US,Brazil and France will be available globally on Netflix.

As I said before, the US will be available on Netflix as you can search and put it in your list already.

you know, if we donā€™t get gretel, hopefully they find someone like davina mccall

That setup shows they could easily do it at Fox Studios

Weā€™ll have to wait until their upfront to know the full extent of how Warburton wants to shift the network so it appeals to younger viewers. We know that he wants to ā€˜relaunchā€™ the network after the Olympics so perhaps Big Brother will be part of a range of programs/holistic strategy to do that

Indeed, though Iā€™m not terribly optimistic. Iā€™m glad there is new leadership in place but Iā€™m not sure Warburton would have been my first pick personally.

The thing that made BBAU for me was the interactivity with audience and the network. Ofc the news with Sandra but also remember rove being involved. It felt like a show bigger than itā€™s slot. If seven were to get the rights, for them to get it right, they canā€™t bombard viewers with promo like 9 did and cross-promote only when necessary, and of course so then viewer fatigue doesnā€™t set in straight away. If itā€™s with seven they need to bring back UpLate, Adults Only, FNL and Hotdogs (it is seven so theyā€™ll most likely cross promote the shit out of).

I am keen for the announcement but nervous to see if it gets fucked up. 10 took a gamble with this in the day, whichever network has it now needs to take one too.

In a random point, the package they had from 05-07 was probably the best. Loved the cubeā€™s feel and the opener of it, especially the distinction of the type of show (blue, green, red, orange, dark blue, purple) plus the logo was imo better than US and the UK. The theme on 10 before 2008 was great. 9 made it really lame and too poppy, hopefully itā€™ll be restored to its former glory.

An interesting read on The Circle https://metro.co.uk/2019/09/30/circle-best-reality-show-tv-channel-4s-catfish-series-changing-game-know-10830898/

I am just interested in this adaption of Big Brother. Some are suggesting it may only be 6 weeks long. So that makes me wonder why 7 didnā€™t attempt The Circle. It could have thrown normal and interesting characters into the show and creating something completely different than what we already seen on screens.

I really do hope someone in Australia picks up a local version of the circle.

Thereā€™s only one possible hostā€¦ Gretel!

You are right Gretel will probably host the show. But I feel 7 are just playing it safe and doing there usual copying of other networks. Why not be brave and think of new ideas? Invest in new formats? Its just not an exciting path for 7. Yeah they might do it just like 10 did. But are viewers really going to appreciate the fact that 7 just copied another network again?
