Big Brother

I don’t think they will do a US version. It will be an Australian version just in a studio. The studio actually doesn’t bother me that much.

I don’t agree with that. US Survivor on Go rates around 150k yet the Aussie version was getting 700-800k most episodes this season. So it’s not necessarily an indication. A highly promoted Aussie version of a format is a completely different thing to an American version that most people don’t even know exists on a multichannel.

There were lots of reasons why airing Celeb BB US was always going to flop though (eg; airing after the season aired in the US, pretty much all of the celebrities being unknown to Australian viewers, etc)

Celeb BB US aired 3 days after the US and the celebrities being unknown should not matter considering everyone that goes on Big Brother is an unknown.

But the key hook for the show, the celebrities - is lost and why would anyone want to see random Americans? There is a difference.

On the whole denial piece and nothing being signed yet, although blackbox are going to be right about 7, part of me hopes there a whisker of truth to the story and there is a late change and 10 snags it!

2003 winner Reggie Sorensen (nee Bird) says the producers need to cast “realistic” people in the reboot, and reckons Gretel Killeen should return as host and Mike Goldman to do the voiceover.

“Sent a warning”

Who writes these headlines?

Oh wait, news.com.au… never mind.

Did you read the article? The article isn’t saying it’s not on 7 only that 7 can’t confirm it while 9 still has the rights. Black box has not said 7 has confirmed it only that 7 will obtain it.

I always read headlines and just make up the rest of the story myself

That’s the problem. A headline is just click bait. I was arguing this with someone the other day when the blew up about the AFLW players demanding a pay increase. They were like they don’t deserve to be paid the same as the men. And I was like that isn’t what they are demanding. They are asking for a 5% increase.

What does it mean “Nine still has a right of refusal.”

So Nine can still keep rights for it and not produce it/air it ?

I was hoping Ten with their success with Survivor, Bachelor , Masked Singer could get this next year.

It just seems like a Ten show , just like The Masked Singer would seem out of place on 7 and 9 (In my opinion, though not sure )

Yes - however I think 10 and Nine are quite happy with their programming into 2020, as 10 has surprised us with some higher ratings than previous years and has success in most of their prime time programs (Bachelor, Masked Singers, I’m a Celebrity and Masterchef)

I’m suspecting 10 might want to grow their News and Current Affairs offerings and 10 Sport?

So it is coming to 7 then.

Of course it is going to 7. 9 and 10 are in too good of a position to risk it on Big Brother.

If only that old guy would have shut up long enough for Gretel to get a word out of her mouth.

Wonder if it would launch early 2020 and replace MKR , moving MKR to later in the year.

Probably more likely BB is later in the year and MKR stays put .

An article in the Nine newspapers about the show’s potential revival has this tidbit about the possible length of the season:

Industry talk suggests Seven will look at a run of six to eight weeks. With BB likely to be strip-programmed Sunday to Thursday, that would suggest between 30 and 40 episodes. The longer the run, the less each episode is likely to cost the cash-strapped network, which may encourage it to go as long as possible.

In Nine’s last season, the show ran for 58 epsiodes. At its 2007 peak, in season 7 on Ten, it ran 128, including spin-offs.
