It’s arguably had 15 seasons of testing the water already. Indeed most recently that was a 5 week series that flopped - if it didn’t work pre-recorded the nature of the format means it might struggle even more live as they just don’t have the time to do it justice.
Absolutely get not going straight to 100 days but feel it needs 6-8 weeks to do it justice and give viewers a fair representation of what it would look like moving forward. A four week “pilot” wouldn’t show off the format in it’s best light.
Also surely cost wise the capital costs will be the big expense in relaunching the show rather than on going staff costs so a 4 week series makes it much more expensive per episode than running it for 8 weeks, and even if it flops it feels less of a risk than 10News+.
Agree they’ll play it safe with casting but they always did anyway.
While producers have confirmed a Queensland-based production via local job postings, Scoop can reveal that the original Dreamworld site remains untouched.
No visible signs of reconstruction have emerged, leading industry insiders to believe the show’s set may instead be built from scratch at a new Gold Coast location.
With filming expected to begin within months and an end-of-year air date locked in, sources say construction would need to be under way now to meet deadline.
The reboot is set to premiere in November and wrap before Christmas.
Make the contestants battle through the tropical heat in this season of BB! Wouldn’t hurt to do so! Remember, Big Brother makes the rules, and he could make the decision to send the contestants up to the top end of town, up in the Queensland tropics! Embrace the wet season/Tropical QLD’s version of Summer lol!
One of those sound stages could easily accommodate the house and live shows in the same building, even if they did the live shows outside the space next to the sound stage could hold a big audience
Worth remembering the Dreamworld Auditorium was quite some distance from the house so the studio doesn’t need to be too close - just close enough to get the evictee there over the break.
Since 2008 they did when they started pretending the house was right beside the studio. Up until then you saw the evictee on the golf buggy heading to the stage.
Endermol are probably close to locking a cast for the 2026 seasons of Survivor and MAFS (likely to film soon), so their casting teams will probably be turning their attention from strategic castaways & egotistical singles who want to get pretend married and to housemates.
Ten is readying for a rush of applicants when casting opens in the coming weeks.
“With Big Brother, when casting gets underway, I would say take your time with your application,” (Sarah Thornton, head of unscripted for Channel 10) said.
“Don’t rush it, show the essence of who you are and what it is that makes you unique and exciting to us. What we’re not looking for is a perfectly produced video (application). We’d be happy with something very amateur provided it’s authentic. In some ways the more polished it is, the harder it is for us to see you.”
Thornton said 10’s reboot of Big Brother would take the show back to its foundations.
“We are really aiming to cast it in the salt-of-the-earth kind of way that the original Australian series was cast. We are looking for people from all walks of life that bring slices of Australia to us as viewers.”
