My guess is maybe they thought it would be worse publicity wise if it was taken off-air altogether rather than just bumped?
Either way the whole situation is pretty ordinary and doubt the story they gave Mediaweek.

I believe uncut would be streamed more than the actual show. The demographic dont watch Live TV and they are horny and like shows like Fck boy Island and Love Island.
Uncut is about the only thing they did well this year. Ironically it was the show that didnât focus too much on the tedious forced ârelationshipsâ between the HMd and showed us more of them being themselves and more of their personalities.
Given itâs a 7+ exclusive we actually havenât seen any figures for Uncut, so whatâs good in todayâs numbers anyway for a digital exclusive?
The numbers for Uncut are available if you look up the BVOD reports as they were coded with episode numbers:
Week 1 124k (over a 28 day period)
Week 2 103k (over a 28 day period)
Week 3 75k (in the 7 days since the episode streamed)
Week 4 73k ( in the 7 days since the episode streamed)
Week 5 16k (5/12 episode- in the 7 days since the episode streamed). This episode was released on a Tuesday, the day before the finale, unlike the other episodes which released on Thursdays. Most people would have been unaware of the schedule change.
That figure is a huge collapse though in the final week considering itâs the 7 day figure, so was still there from the Thursday onwards.
Zero surprise here.
âI am shocked and speechlessâ. Said noone! lol.
Seven can spin this with 7plus data as hard as they like. The reality is they killed it by chasing a youth market that didnât exist. I would be extremely surprised if it returns in 2025.
Should do a proper celeb one again like UK does
However TV Blackbox has since learnt that no official decision has been made as yet.
Itâll be swept under the rug and they wonât announce it.
I want big brother on end of this year or 2025 but only if it has different personality types like the original BB on channel 10 even add a few celebrities have a games show and a really raunchy adultâs only on 9 now or 10play Stan and paramount + and live evictions donât have the same old young Rich snobs people from all walks of life I think thatâs the only way BB will return to Aussie TV again.
No new information in that article at all really - just piecing together everything we already knew.
Already knew, or assumed? Most of us could see the writing on the wall anyway.
Confirmation that Big Brother is out this year, but they make look to a live format in 2025 is definitely new info.
You may have forgotten that Big Brother was announced as returning in 2024 at their upfronts, obviously that was prior to the last season airing and bombing spectacularly but it was still announced.
From 7âs upfront release:
Host Sonia Kruger and Big Brother will welcome a new batch of housemates when Big Brother returns in 2024.
What is the fixation on âadults onlyâ episodes late at night and /or on BVOD? If you need this to show nudity and sex, then the show is deadâŚ
As that Blackbox article says the quote about looking at a live format dates from 2022 - itâs not new information.
And the Seven upfront presentation was deliberately spinning the 2023 season as part of the 2024 programming slate (indeed arguably the tailend of 2023 could perhaps considered to be part of the 2024 season) - every reference was a reference to the series just aired.
No TV exec worth their salt would take the risk on Big Brother back on the same network with the ratings they just had and the goodwill that has well and truly been lost.
This isnât an âon the bubbleâ situation where a revamped version is worth a shot - it was a complete and utter disaster. Seven would have to have the worst year in itâs history in 2024 to consider bringing Big Brother back in 2025.
Pre-packaged Big Brother on Seven is dead.
Hopefully they let the format rights expire and show is relaunched on 10/Paramount+ in 2025 with live-to-air episodes (i.e. daily shows compiled within 24 hours), live evictions and live feeds.
If Iâm a Celebrity flops this year they might be able to get Alex Mav back as EP.
7 are still saying that BB is still in the cards - either for a 2024 pre-recorded show, or potentially a 2025 live edition
Not sure if this is genuine that 7 want to run Big Brother again or if they postering for some reason (ie, faking interest to drive up any franchise fees for a rival network, downplaying the failure of last season).
Iâm a tad concerned that Sevens programming department have absolutely no idea on commissioning new shows or ideas.
On tonightâs episode of Iâm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, Skye Wheatley revealed the devastating impact of viral backlash against her that saw her axed from season 14 of Big Brother on Seven. Skye was set to join BB legends, including Reggie Sorensen, Tim Dormer, Tully Smyth and Layla Subritzky, on the show. However, she claimed a controversial Instagram Q&A about her longtime partner Lachlan Waugh just two weeks out from shooting prompted harsh backlash, and saw her booted from the show via email in late 2021.
