Threatened Joel sends wild card Josh packing on Big Brother

Tonight on Big Brother , generations of housemates came face to face, with Josh unhappy at the ‘celebrities’ presence in the house and still fuming over the cancelled eviction.

Later in the night three more Big Brother royalty made their way to the house through a secret doorway. Trevor, Layla and Drew were sent underground to Big Brother ’s sewer, wreaking havoc with his plumbing.

Josh bared his soul in an attempt to win back his dream girl, Sam, but her rejection left him heartbroken.

In a gruelling nominations challenge, devastated Josh was determined to hang on, but Joel proved unbeatable as he claimed his second victory and another chance to nominate three housemates for eviction. He chose wildcard Josh, Sam, and Big Brother ’s most nominated housemate: Estelle.

As the war between new and old waged on, Tim knew his side needed Josh in the house as their secret weapon, but Josh couldn’t be saved despite his best efforts.

It was a tie between Josh and Sam, with the decision reverting to the challenge winner: Joel. He sent Josh packing as the first housemate to leave Big Brother ’s house.

“I definitely had the eyes on the prize for this one. Unfortunately, it was either him or I at this stage,” Joel said.

Tomorrow night on Big Brother: Tim finds reinforcement as the battle between new and the old explodes, sparks fly as more royalty enter the house and a nomination twist has the house reeling.

This is the format now. Task, challenge, nomination, strategy, eviction. Rinse and repeat. There is no time or method for the audience to gain any insight on any of the housemates or their relationships, which was a core part of why the original series built such a huge following.

Be even better if they announce tomorrow as day 3. :unamused:

Surely this won’t come back next year? But hey it’s Seven afterall and I wouldn’t be surprised if they do another season with another twist of ‘All Stars’ next year.

I know it’s a format that’s been flogged to death on this forum, but The Circle please Seven. You can even work with Netflix to do this and get the FTA rights for it.

Such a weird throwback. Rehashing a reality TV relationship that happened 9 years ago. I can barely remember who was on MAFS a couple of years after it airs.

Also another bleak reminder of how broken the new format is. Viewers voted to keep Drew and Tully in because of the relationship and how it played out day by day. It was interesting because the audience had a say in whether or not they’d be disconnected. Now it might just end because Drew can’t balance on a ball in a challenge, or because the producers are personally bored.

And that’s the true essence on Big Brother. It was billed as the ultimate social experiment. And that wasn’t just about how the housemates would interact with each other. It was just as much about the housemates would appeal to the viewers and how the producers could manipulate this. Most of the best housemates were also the most controversial who would have been hell to live with. They’d get voted out very early on this current format.

The fact the audience can’t get involved with the show in the terms of voting or even expand their effect into the show when done live these days, I think has massively affected the engagement of people with the series on 7.

The tag line “You Decide” is really deceptive as well - you only get to decide between those the produces and format allow to make it to the final. Otherwise, we don’t decide anything.

Waiting now for the first of the ‘royalty’ housemates to be evicted, only to be saved by a producer twist.

Tuned in to episode one out of curiosity. Haven’t watched much the last couple of years but my main criticism is it looks too polished.
Part of BB’s appeal - I thought anyway - was the fact it was a bit rough and ready…unusual camera angles, lower quality vision. It felt like ‘surveillance’ rather that what they do now. Maybe it’s just due to camera quality etc increasing but the whole show just feels polished when it shouldn’t.

Yeah what has been a big change is the use of 4k cameras, but it’s the way they shoot it. They don’t shoot it fly on the wall anymore, it’s more filmed like a documentary in the frame composition and movement.

The lighting in the “house” is a full on production rig too, which would contribute to it. In the 10 and 9 eras, the house was an actual enclosed house with a proper roof and natural every day lighting (even if some production lighting was in there it was hidden)
There are more hot head cameras in the actual rooms too now, opposed to only a few in the 9 era which is where we saw more introduced.

Housemate nominations - finally! Even if it’s only once a week it’s better than nothing.

I love how they are like we are going “old school” being 2014 :joy:

Great to see Housemate Nominations back. However they need to get rid of challenges and make it live.

Got home, turned on the tv in readiness for the leaders debate and couldn’t believe the crap being served up as entertainment.
big brother is so controlled & seems almost scripted & rehearsed.
I find myself morbidly waiting for it to finish so I can see the mammoth list of script writers & segment producers who all need to be sacked.
It’s no wonder no one is watching.

Fully expecting to be disappointed by the leaders debate too, but at least is we know these two are bland and boring before it even starts.

Rant over

Couldn’t have said it better. The whole thing this year is so contrived it makes Married at First Sight seem genuine.

Promises are made to be broken

Lara struggles to stick to her word in Big Brother’s game

Tonight on Big Brother , Tim embarked on a secret mission to the sewer, where he was united with his bestie Drew and two more royalty.

Trevor, Layla and Drew whipped up a frenzy with their arrival in the main house, but it was Sam and Drew’s undeniable chemistry that set tongues wagging.

Big Brother announced the return of house nominations, leaving only the challenge winner safe from eviction. With each housemate having the power to nominate, Big Brother royalty joined forces, while newbies Mel and Lara made a pledge to never nominate each other.

With guaranteed safety on the line, challenge beast Joel finally met his match as 54-year-old grandmother, Lara, claimed her first victory.

During nominations, the new housemates did not back down as royalty Layla and Drew found themselves up for eviction.

Lara was faced with a tough decision when, following a tie between Mel and Joel, Big Brother asked her to nominate one of them. Mel became the third housemate up for eviction when Lara let a pillow flip decide their fate.

In a brand-new twist, Big Brother announced a second chance challenge for the nominated housemates: saving the winner and leaving the remaining two facing an impending eviction.

Tomorrow night on Big Brother : the housemates rage against a machine, dreamy Drew hits Sam’s sweet spot and, with their second chance at survival hanging in the balance, will a leap of faith bring one player’s game crashing down?

Great to have the housemates nominate but too many twists. Each housemate nominates, top three then up for eviction but then there’s a challenge where one of the nominees can save themselves if they win, leaving a final two. Too much.

Spoiler alert. Drew doesn’t go cause you already shown us the ads of Tully walking in.

Yes. Quite silly from Seven showing us ads over the last few weeks that Drew and Tully do meet. And Drew is nominated for eviction that is coming up in just a few minutes time!

Unless Drew is eliminated and sent to a secret room. It wouldn’t fit the narrative with Tully coming in next week for Drew to leave yet.
