No doubt the season premiere was pushed back by Seven’s coverage of Women’s Ashes test as well as Sri Lanka-Australia test series. It will be interesting to see if the number of new episodes will be cut back this year as the result.

Update: Return date is 14 February.

Sorry can I just confirm are these summer episodes repeat segments from last year? Or new segments under a summer label?

New 2025 season as has been promoted on Seven as “Starts This February”.

No sorry I’m talking about the current summer series on Fridays that’s been on since December. Either on 7Two or 7 depending on cricket coverage. It’s still been on at 7pm regardless.

BHG Summer finishes on 7 February. New season starts on 14 February.

Ok but that’s not what I’m asking.

I’m asking if the summer series is new content or is it just segments thrown together from the year just gone.

BH&G Summer are repeats from 2024, not new episodes.

JOHANNA + DR CHRIS BROWN – AMAZING HOMES: PADDINGTON HAVEN

When master craftsman Boris Tosic and his wife, Naomi, stumbled across a former hat factory in Sydney’s Paddington, they knew they could turn it into something special. It turned out to be Boris’s final project, as he sadly passed away in 2023. Built with love and attention to detail, Boris’s swan song is a stunning and dramatic family home. With five levels, a basement gym, sauna, cinema room and even a wood-panelled garage, the home was also built to house the owners’ extensive art collection. It’s such an amazing project that when local resident, Dr Chris Brown, found out we were heading here, he asked to come along…and he wasn’t disappointed. Join Johanna and Dr Chris as they check out this unforgettable home.

Travelling to the remote wilderness of Canada’s British Columbia is like stepping into another world. And for the next two weeks, Adam is in in BC for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure where he’ll get up close and personal with grizzly bears, trek through pristine forests, visit a remarkable floating lodge, fish for wild crabs on crystal-clear lakes and so much more. This is a trip you won’t want to miss!

DR HARRY – SAUSAGE DOG FESTIVAL

Who doesn’t love a sausage dog? This week, Dr Harry’s checking out the Dachshtober Longdog Festival in NSW’s Hunter Valley. Complete with fancy dress competitions and the famous Longdog Dash, this festival celebrates all things dachshund and it’s all in aid of a great cause. One in four dachshunds suffer from Intervertebral Disc Disease, or IVDD, a crippling back condition. Funds raised at this event go to IVDD research and to helping those dogs affected by this horrific disease. Dr Harry’s here to find out more…and to spend a day celebrating this most amazing of dog breeds.

COLIN – SUMMER PUDDING

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…berry season! Colin’s making the most of it with his twist on the classic summer pudding. Made with strawberries, blackberries and raspberries, plus lemon verbena for a bit of a kick, this delicious dessert is a great way to use up stale bread…and you don’t even have to turn the oven on.

CLARISSA – TERIYAKI CHICKEN RICE PAPER ROLLS

Forget the same boring old sandwiches and start the school year with Clarissa’s Teriyaki Chicken Rice Paper Rolls instead. They’re super simple to make and guaranteed to be a lunchbox winner. Made with loads of veggies and served with sweet chilli sauce, they’re the perfect light lunch or snack for big kids and little kids alike.

When you step through your front door after a long day, the last thing you want to be greeted with is a disorganised and messy front entryway. Juliet’s sharing some great ideas to get your entryway into shape. With loads of storage and a clever and unexpected design statement, this entryway just got a whole lot more inviting.

GRAHAM – CLAUDIA NEVELL GARDEN

Graham is on NSW’s idyllic Coffs Coast to visit a spectacular tropical garden that’s been lovingly built over more than 20 years. The private garden of landscape designer, Claudia Nevell, this subtropical oasis extends over three large blocks and includes a private courtyard, kitchen garden, loads of fruit trees and even a chook run. Best of all, it expertly combines tropical plants, natives and exotics to create a layered landscape full of inspiration for your garden.

MELISSA – FANCY PLANTS

Vintage and antique stores are known for selling beautiful furniture and décor for the inside of your home…but have you ever heard of an antique store for your garden? Melissa’s visiting The Merchants Warehouse, in Sydney’s inner west, where some of the city’s most celebrated antique dealers sell their wares…but out the back you’ll find a unique nursery using antiques in a totally different way. Rachel Gleeson first started her nursery, Ivy Alley, in a suburban lane…but the business got so big, she needed more space! Now at The Merchant’s Warehouse, Rachel’s work is proof that almost anything can be used as a planter: from antique candelabras to old oil cans and even pianos. Melissa’s stopping by to admire Rachel’s work and to make some cute teacup planters inspired by it.

Recipes from each new episode of the show will be published on PDF edition of The Nightly, and on its website.

The recipes from last weeks episode were also in The Nightly. I recall some of them were there last year too.

GRAHAM – A PLANT TO DIE FOR

This January, thousands of people from across the world were on tenterhooks, afraid to leave their computer screens in case they missed a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Well, once in a few years, at least. At Sydney’s Royal Botanic Gardens, an endangered plant known as the ‘corpse flower’ was about to bloom for the first time in 15 years. This rare plant is known for its putrid smell and only flowers for about 24 hours before it withers and dies.

Join Graham as he shares all the behind-the-scenes gossip on the plant affectionately known as ‘Putricia’…stuff you wouldn’t have seen in the live streams. Plus, we check out some of Putricia’s relatives and answer the question everyone’s asking: when will Putricia bloom again?

CHARLIE – SUBURBAN BLISS

There’s one question behind every great garden: what are the best plants for the local

conditions? If you get this right, your garden is pretty much guaranteed to be a success…and Charlie’s found a suburban front and back garden that prove it. He’s in Sydney’s eastern suburbs to take a look around a stunning oasis with the perfect plant palette…and it was created by a pair of homeowners with no professional training in landscape design or gardening. Featuring a perfect blend of coastal and tropical plants, plus an internal courtyard with a plunge pool, Charlie’s finding out how these homeowners were able to create such a magical space.

JOHANNA – A VIEW OF HUNTER VALLEY

Sydney is one of the most expensive cities in the world to live in and, for many of us, buying a home there is completely out of the question. But two hours away you’ll find a tranquil paradise that’s fast becoming a popular alternative…and the average family home here is half the median price of Sydney! This week, Johanna is finding out all there is to love about living in the Hunter Valley and the pros and cons of making it your home.

Whether you use it to serve drinks, display knick-knacks or corral all your craft supplies, a drinks trolley can add loads of sophistication and storage to your home…but they can be expensive to buy from the furniture store. Adam’s showing you how to build your own for a fraction of the cost. Made with solid radiata pine and simple joinery, this simple project will elevate any corner at your place.

COLIN – SWORDFISH STEAKS WITH GREEN OLIVE SALSA VERDE

CHARLIE – BASICS TO GOOD GARDENING

If you love gardening, visiting the nursery is a little like being a kid in a candy store. There are so many beautiful plants around and it’s tempting to come home with loads of them, but that would be a BIG mistake. You need to do your homework first, which means choosing plants that suit your soil and conditions. You also need to consider the type of mulch you’ll be using, whether your incorporating things like pebbles or river stones in your flower beds…and a whole host of other things, too. Charlie’s sharing the tips you don’t want to go to the nursery without.

GRAHAM – THE WELL-KEPT SECRET OF SEFTON HALL

Graham’s travelling to NSW’s Blue Mountains to check out a true hidden gem. Sefton Hall is one of eight surviving ‘foundation’ houses of the Mount Wilson Conservation area. Built in 1912, it was once a summer retreat for Sydney’s elite and visiting both the home and its surrounding gardens is like taking a step back in time. Painstakingly restored to its former glory by its new caretakers, this private garden is not normally open to the public, but they’ve opened their doors to the Better Homes and Gardens audience for an exclusive tour.

JULIET – MAKE YOUR MARK, BOOK ART

You don’t have to be Monet or Picasso to make stunning wall art and this week, Juliet’s showing you how. She’s turning the pages of an old book into a statement piece for your walls – no drawing or painting skills required. Plus, she’s got a great idea for turning artificial flowers into a stunning 3D sculpture.

DR HARRY – LIZZIE THE SKINNY CHOOK

Dr Harry’s visiting a family with a chicken problem. One of their chickens, Lizzie, is losing feathers, has stopped laying eggs and just looks sad. The family think she might be depressed. Can Dr Harry figure out if poor Lizzie has any medical problems…or does she just need a good therapist?
