Just saw the 4K listing on Foxtel online TV guide. Isn’t the match exclusive to BeIN? Why will it provide a 4K feed to Foxtel 4K channel?
Probably the same reason why ESPN showed 3D content on the old Foxtel 3D channel. Foxtel and BeIN must of come to some arrangement to allow for the match to be shown in 4K, I hope it continues past this weekend and becomes a regular feature on Foxtel 4K channel
It will be. Foxtel and BeIN have formed a new partnership in which BeIN will provide two LaLiga matches per week during the 2018/19 season to Foxtel’s 4K channel (more details in Foxtel 4K thread), starting with Real Madrid v Barcelona this weekend.
BeIN has secured broadcast rights to the 2019 Copa America in 27 countries, including Australia and NZ. The soccer tournament will be played in Brazil from June 14 to July 7, with Qatar and Japan joining the 10 South American nations in the competition.
In January, BeIN secured a multi-year agreement to the Copa Libertadores, the Copa Sudamericana and the Recopa Sudamericana in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and 24 territories in the Middle East and North Africa region.
BeIN has acquired Australian and NZ broadcast rights to the 2019-20 Scottish Cup competition. It also showed this season’s final between Hearts and Celtic (which Celtic won 2-1) at the weekend.
BeIN Sports has acquired the rights to show the 2019 International Champions Cup as well as Sydney FC’s friendly against PSG in Jiangsu on 30 July.
That means this year’s International Champions Cup will be shown live on both BeIN Sports and SBS.
The Sydney FC friendly doesn’t have a FTA broadcaster at this stage
Western Sydney Wanderers vs Leeds United friendly will be also live on beIN Sports across connected devices and around the world. Surprised no FTA broadcaster picked up the rights after Channel 7 purchased rights for the two Manchester United friendlies in Perth.
Will be interesting to see whether beIN will produce their own coverage of the match or if they’ll just simply show the world feed
A second tier English side against an Aussie side doesn’t exactly scream ratings success
2nd tier yes, but with a fanbase that only the biggest Premier League clubs can top in England. The term is “Sleeping Giant”.
Unfortunately it’s been asleep for quite some time and their manager is a nutcase. Too niche for Aussie FTA.
Name a manager that ISN’T a nutcase!
Ole Gunnar Solskjær.
BeIN’s coverage of 2019 Davis Cup Finals from Madrid, Spain, begin next Monday night (November 18). The network has live and replay rights to group matches except those involving Australia, which will be shown exclusively on 9Gem. BeIN also has the rights to quarter-finals, semi-finals and the final.
