People still want to get their Gordon Ramsay fix on 7Flix on Sundays…

Could Seven at least air the Games on the mulits during the day when these networks dont rate as high as they do in primetime at least - do give some variety. In primetime, i get that Seven want people watching the main channel or switch to the streaming platforms.

Not really - Nine’s Australian Open coverage promoted 9Now streaming every court and match a fair bit. When it comes to the other grand slams, they’ll probably push Stan Sport heavily.

off topic but replying to a comment kept in this thread

It may not have rated “highly”, but it still rated, higher than recent years too and some nights/days even No. 1 m/c and program. Crucially it provided further reach/promotion (and ad revenue), alternative broadcast and which is vital to those without access to live streaming.

  • Channel 4 scores global first with all-star disabled presenting team for Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games
  • ParalympicsGB champions Lauren Steadman and Ellie Robinson to join on-screen presenting team led by Ade Adepitan, Arthur Williams, Billy Monger and Sean Rose
  • Channel 4 will host over 80 hours of round-the-clock Paralympics coverage from China on free-to-air television, plus streaming on C4 YouTube channel

Channel 4 has today announced an all-star disabled presenting team for the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games, who will present on the ground in China.

It is a global first for a broadcaster to have an entire disabled presenting and punditry team for a world class sporting event.

The UK Paralympic broadcaster will bring over 80 hours and present the Games live from Beijing on Channel 4, plus streaming on C4’s YouTube platform.

Broadcast Sports award-winning presenter Ade Adepitan will helm the daily highlights show, with former rugby player Ed Jackson and Paralympic champion triathlete Lauren Steadman bringing the Breakfast Show to viewers.

Recently retired Paralympic swimmer Ellie Robinson will be joined by British racing car driver Billy Monger as on-screen reporters and former sit-kier Sean Rose as pundit. Tokyo 2020 presenter Arthur Williams will lead overnight sports coverage.

Channel 4 has exclusive broadcast rights within the UK and its Beijing Paralympics coverage will be produced by Whisper and sponsored by Toyota.

Channel 4’s Director of Programmes Ian Katz said, “Channel 4 is incredibly proud to announce a stellar presenting team and - in a first for any broadcaster around the world - an entire presenting team who are disabled. This is testament to the brilliant disabled presenting talent we have in the UK and underlines our commitment to providing opportunities for people with disabilities and making our output truly representative of the entire population.

“We are looking forward to once again bringing a global audience to the Paralympic Games and are proud of what we have achieved since London 2012, shifting perceptions of disabled people and bringing world-class sporting drama to our viewers through our significant investment in coverage and award-winning marketing campaigns.

“We will bring the best coverage possible to the British public, live from China, so we can all get behind ParalympicsGB and celebrate their success in Beijing.”

Who is doing the commentary in the speed skating? I can hear Nicole Livingstone

Don’t forget NBC aired the Opening Ceremony live at 6:30AM ET in all time zones that morning which was the same practice with the Tokyo 2020 Games last July.

Hello there! I’m new here, if you’re asking.

I am showcasing a look at the robust set-ups NBC has prepared for an Olympic Winter Games like no other; traditionally, NBC has one of the largest set-ups in an Olympic Games edition, with a large presence in the host city’s IBC, supported by a strong workforce in the headquarters of the NBC Sports division in Stamford, Connecticut, and their subscription TV operations centre in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, where CNBC’s Global Headquarters are also housed. Last time in Tokyo, this was the case, however, they also profited from an open-air studio at an hotel rooftop in Odaiba.

This time, however, due to China’s stricter COVID-19 restrictions, as well as the enforcement of the Olympic bubble, NBC has a reduced presence there. However, they were still able to design, build and mount two studio sets in the host city, based on a design concept of a “sprawling luxury ski resort providing multiple spaces available for broadcast use by NBC”, according to designer Bryan Higgason, a former designer with Clickspring Design, which has worked with its own company, HD Studio, since 2015. HD Studio, a partnership of Higgason, Paul Benson (also working as its own under the blanket name Primate Studio) and Sid Wichienkuer, has done all NBC Olympic sets since Rio 2016, after years of using the same set from Jeremy Conway (first used in Sydney) and after a stint working with Clickspring in the Sochi Olympics.

In the Beijing MMC, NBC has installed two studios: a large lodge studio for the first weeks of Primetime and Primetime Plus coverage; and a smaller studio designed for on-site interviews.

This time, due to the aforementioned circumstances, NBC has increased the number of productions at their Stamford studios. Studio 1, normally the home of Football Night in America and NBC’s NFL-based studio programming, is housing Peacock’s original programming for the Games; it additionally serves as a commentary hub for the Ceremonies. Studio 2, normally used for Premier League Live and soccer shows, is housing USA Network’s supplementary coverage; whilst Studio 3, former home of their NHL coverage, is the centre of their daytime network programme; as well as a commentary hub for the figure skating preshow. Studio 7, used exclusively by Golf Channel, is serving as a features studio, and a foyer located in the entrance of their Stamford HQ has been used to mount a studio for Talkin’ Olympics, a show NBC Olympics produces for Twitter’s American users.

Additionally, NBC has also profited to install an outdoor studio set in the street around Studio 1A, where Today and NBC Nightly News are broadcasting from (their anchors didn’t make the move to the host city this time, citing the aforementioned restrictions). It is also the place where Steve Kornacki is contributing to the coverage, making a new crossover of his Magic Wall.

Additionally, Tirico will host Primetime coverage from Stamford on Wednesday and Thursday before preparing for the Super Bowl LVI coverage from SoFi Stadium, from where Tirico is doing Primetime that weekend. NBC is broadcasting the event on the US and is promoting the coverage as Super Gold Sunday, with the game telecast being immediately followed by Olympic coverage. To achieve this, Tirico is doing his final Primetime programme from Beijing tonight, before flying to the US during Monday; on Tuesday, Craig Melvin (from Beijing) and Maria Taylor (from Stamford) will fill-in.

So, that is it! A closer look at the massive set-up NBC has in America and Beijing.

(EDIT: Corrected information about Tirico’s handling of next week’s coverage.)
(EDIT 2: Added extra photos of Today’s setup at Studio 1A.)
