BBC STUDIOS APPOINTS SHARON WILSON

AS DIRECTOR OF BRANDS & LICENSING ANZ

BBC Studios has appointed senior brand and marketing leader, Sharon Wilson, as Director of Brands & Licensing Australia & New Zealand. In this role she will oversee brand strategy and licensing initiatives across the ANZ region, ensuring BBC Studios’ iconic brands, including Bluey, continue to resonate with audiences and partners. Sharon will report to Suzy Raia, who leads the Global Consumer Products team, and will be based in Sydney.

Sharon brings extensive expertise as a seasoned leader in brand and marketing, with a proven track record in driving growth and digital transformation. Her career spans diverse industries, from green energy start-ups to established corporations, including Australian Geographic and BBC Studios, where she held multiple marketing roles between 2010 and 2020. Most recently, Sharon served as Head of Go-to-Market at ADMA, leading initiatives that strengthened market positioning and audience engagement.

Sharon’s appointment underscores BBC Studios ANZ’s commitment to excellence, creativity, and strategic innovation in brand management and licensing. She joins at a pivotal time as the team capitalises on the momentum of a feature film slated for global theatrical release on 6 August 2027 under the Disney banner.

Amber Brown, Director of Partnerships, Digital and Brands, continues to lead off-air brand activations while driving the growth of brand-funded entertainment and digital initiatives for locally produced programming by BBC Studios Global Production ANZ.

From Friday 6 to Thursday 22 February 2026, the BBC is delivering more than 450 hours of live action from Milan-Cortina - bringing audiences unmissable drama from the world’s top winter sport athletes, and the biggest and best moments of snow and ice sport.

Wherever audiences choose to follow, BBC Sport has the Winter Olympics Games covered with two streams of live daytime action from Italy, alongside the best clips, highlights and live text updates across the BBC Sport website, app and social channels.

TV coverage will be led by Clare Balding, Hazel Irvine and Jeanette Kwakye on BBC One and BBC Two from 9am to 10pm each day from the BBC’s studio in Cortina. The second live stream, Olympics Extra, will be available via BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and app from 8am to 11pm to show additional Winter Olympic Games.

Partnering with YouTube is part of the BBC’s value for all strategy, ensuring more BBC content is accessible to all audiences where they are, in addition to its hugely successful services such as BBC iPlayer and BBC Sounds, where the new programming will launch at the same time

I know it’s semantics, but the BBC needs to use something other than BBC Group to describe themselves, as BBC Group is in use by a packaging company.

Across the Winter Olympic Games in 2026, there were an unprecedented 83 million streams and over 44 million total streamed hours online via BBC iPlayer, the BBC Sport website and the BBC Sport app, with 26.3 million viewers tuning in to the TV coverage.

BBC Sport’s social coverage at the Winter Olympics similarly delivered extraordinary scale and cultural cut-through, generating a staggering 235 million views across the Games.

The figures represent a dramatic overall consumption increase on previous Winter Olympic Games. The Beijing Winter Olympic Games in 2022 saw 31.4 million streams and a TV audience of 26 million.

Richard Osman’s House of Games will be getting a new name after its current host announced he is leaving the BBC quiz show.

“It will no longer be Richard Osman’s House of Games. It will be somebody else’s House of Games,” the presenter revealed on his podcast, The Rest is Entertainment.
