In July 2022, the BBC announced proposals to merge its domestic and international news channels.
The presenters claim that ahead of the announcement of the merger, the BBC’s Channels’ manager Jess Brammar privately assured four other chief presenters - two men and two younger women - their jobs were safe.
“We were put through a pre-determined job application process in February 2023,” the presenters said in court documents.
As a result, they said they were not recruited as chief presenters and were instead offered roles as correspondents, which was in effect a demotion and a reduction in pay.
The BBC has announced their presenter lineup for UK’s Local Elections… hours before the actual coverage starts. Laura Kuenssberg, Reeta Chakrabarti and Chris Mason will front overnight TV, while Rachel Burden and Nick Robinson are on the radio side.

TV director Erron Gordon is now BBC’s Head of Department in London, overseeing the London news studios. He previously worked closely with Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain and launched Piers Morgan Uncensored on TalkTV, but jumped ship to GB News last July.
head of department?
What department is he head of?
Head of Output Operations, which AIUI is the department in charge of running the studios (both TV and radio). It’s a very big job, apparently. He’ll be in charge of all the studios in London. (Sadly he has no say in design stuff, but hopefully we’ll at least see a lot more panning shots and the like)
Studio E returns today
Doesn’t look like much has changed other than the vertical screen.

Are they still going to present some editions of the news business program from Singapore?
100% agreed
fit the theme of business so well
Been a long time since they last used that shot of the newsroom. Shame that they don’t have an extended opener anymore like they used to do here which included both the newsroom and longshot of the set:
caps from Pres Cafe, good to see SOME attention to detail now, giving News Now its own studio graphics:
Yes they do, just under the same name as the main UK one. Business Today Asia was mooted in earlier schedules, but probably scrapped:
And now World Business Report:
The half-circle motif for the new show (teased at the end) looks familiar:
Is bbc news that dull we get excited when they put a screen up with simple gfx?
I’m so over BBC News. It’s never going to get any better, not whilst a) their funding keeps getting cut and b) the current idiots remain in charge.
British TV news sets and gfx are just so dull in general… I’m so over it. All of it. Everywhere else innovates but we don’t. We just stick with the same old boring bollocks… because Brits are narky and will whine about literally anything. (And here I am, a Brit, whining… a case in point, I guess!)
If this thinking had been around 25 years ago we would never have seen the BBC bring in the red and beeps that we love so much now. Never. They would have stuck with that cold, dated, pompous blue VR set. Thank God they didn’t.
