Basically it’s a closure of the domestic news channel (what used to be called News 24) in all but name. UK viewers will now get BBC World News, but with some simulcasts of BBC One bulletins.

This is an unacceptable attack on the BBC’s editorial independence. If India wants to be a fully fledged democracy, its government has to accept criticisms, including its policy on Kashmir.

Laura’s resignation comes just weeks after she apologised to the people of Grenada for her family’s links to slavery.

From next week, five journalists will take up Chief Presenter roles, including Matthew Amroliwala, Yalda Hakim, Christian Fraser, Lucy Hockings, and Maryam Moshiri.

A further 10 UK-based presenters were unsuccessful in applying for these roles, and Deadline hears that many have dropped off BBC News’ hosting rota, meaning they have no shifts in April.

Those who did not land a Chief Presenter role include Ben Brown, Martine Croxall, Geeta Guru-Murthy, Shaun Ley, and Annita McVeigh.

A number of presenters are considering their future at the BBC, while others are in talks over Correspondent roles, which will include studio presenting duties.

The way the BBC has been destroying itself recently has been so sad to watch.

Blame the Conservatives for effectively reducing government funding to the BBC.

(With the TV licence fee frozen at the current rate, the government should have allocated more money to the broadcaster to make up the shortfall)

So what can we expect next month and beyond, presentation-wise? Well, as we understand it, no significant visual changes are planned.
The familiar globe device has been recreated at higher quality. So expect it to be hanging about for a while yet.

Interesting. Commentary on Twitter is that the launch in two hours will be a bit of an overhaul. It seems the globe will be refreshed.
