Australian Survivor

I just hope there is a tribe swap, David ends up at the Contenders and finds himself in trouble - but Shaun decides to play the (fake) idol for him. David then goes home as a result!

Australian Survivor season 5 was supposed to start filming yesterday. Have to keep an eye on peopleā€™s social media.

Cast spoilers: Sarah and Nick are presumably on the season. Fenella and Tegan definitely arenā€™t. Luke and Mat R are unlikely.

Iā€™m thinking others to keep an eye on include: Flick, Sharn, Shonee, Tara, Anneliese, Kristie, Michelle, Lydia, Benji, Samuel, Matt T, Jericho, Henry, Locky. Wouldnā€™t be at all surprised if we get to see someone like Matty go back-to-back, filming will be wrapped up by the time of the reunion and 10 can monitor his social.

Surely they are not doing a full blown All Stars season already? There havenā€™t been enough great players to suffice one and how possibly could they fill a 24 person cast after 3 or 4 seasons? If they are going down this route you would think it might be a shorter filler season earlier in the year or maybe a Fans vs Favourites theme.

I agree, it is most likely a shorter 39 day, 18-20 All-Stars season OR a fans vs. favourites 50 day, 24 people season. Having a 1/3 of players in a season return would be a bit excessive.

I wonder if they did do an all stars whether they would get some more US players or even get some players from nine and sevens versions (not exactly encouraging it).

Itā€™s Australian Survivor and people didnā€™t react too well to Russell Hantz being on there so I donā€™t see why they would go the American route. Most great American players have played multiple times before anyway and this is far less prize money, so thereā€™s no point putting D grade US contestants that most Aussie viewers wouldnā€™t even know anyway. Imagine the audience reaction if an American won our version.

Given they are filming much earlier Iā€™m guessing next year 10 plan to use this to bridge the gap between Celeb and Masterchef.

I would say this is going to air in place of Changing Rooms/Takeaway/Dancing next year.

Then how is Jonathan LaPaglia able to tweet about the current season when it airs on TV, as he will be working in Fiji.

Do they not have internet in Fiji?

Not sure about the internet situation in Fiji. Since the current season began, Jonathan has been live tweeting his thoughts on particular incidents during each episode. It may not be possible now unless he has seen the upcoming episodes in advance.

Just to let you know some Australian Survivor repeats will be on Ten Peach this weekend. Last minute addition?

This season is becoming a snooze. Shorten the bloody episodes if nothing exciting happens! Also Simon Blackā€¦ what a poor casting choice. He just looks bored and uninterested.

The preview for tomorrow suggests itā€™s just warming up.

We still have 18 people left and 18 more episodes so Iā€™m predicting that this week or next they stretch it out even more with some twist that doesnā€™t send people home.

Iā€™m pretty sure in previous seasons it was usually every second episode that was 90-100mins long, every second ep they didnā€™t have a reward so had some shorter 70 min eps but this season they seem to be long every time. You get 40-45 mins into an episode and theyā€™ve just finished reward. It is becoming a drainer and has generally been pretty predictable.

Looks like 10 is settling in with 70 minute episodes on Mondays with just immunity challenge.

Didnt like tonights episode. Again this year, tribe swap comes in way to early, we barely got a chance to see what the dynamics in the original contenders tribe were. Some of the contenders still havenā€™t had any airtime so I couldnt have any emotion over Sam being voted out. Did the show ever explain why daisy hated her?

and i dont like that they leveled the numbers of the tribes, means everything until that point was a pretty inconsequential.
What was with Andyā€™s chestbeating about the plan he made to split the vote between David and Luke, as if it was some kind of genius mastermind move? that plan was as bland, safe and obvious as it gets.

I thought tonight would be a small swap with two Contenders joining Champions tribe, to even the numbers up. I didnā€™t realise it would be a large scale swap.

Voted out with zero confessionals! What?! How is that even possible? 90-minute episodes, surely they can find somewhere to squeeze in a confessional or two. Not even an ā€˜I feel safe, weā€™re going to keep contenders strongā€™ one-liner before tribal.

Are they still only pulling their favourites aside to film confessionals as opposed to the whole cast? After making Russell film all his confessionals last season AFTER he was voted out, I wouldā€™ve thought that the producers would catch on to the fact that everyone should sit down and say their piece to the camera for 15 minutes minimum each elimination cycle. It makes for a much better edit.

Is she the one that wore a swimsuit two sizes too small? (as the media put it) she was probably just there sunbaking and cruising along? Seemed to have no strategy. Or maybe the crew/editors didnā€™t like her?
