It has been confirmed that UK-based Banijay Group raised €365 million (A$545 million) to acquire Castaway Productions which owns the Survivor format. If the Australian version is renewed, it could mean production will switch from EndemolShine to Banijay-owned Screentime, who has made shows like Underbelly, Janet King, The Secret Daughter and Anh’s Brush with Fame.
How do you know that? Were tickets available to the public?
Well that’s what I’ve been told is happening. They usually filmed the Biggest Loser finales in advanced too.
Apparently not. It’s a small audience mostly family and friends of cast, production staff etc. There were some limited spots for fans but not many.
My source on this is Ryan who does the Behind Survivor podcast and runs the Superfan group. He is pretty in the know and has confirmed this is when it is happening. Maybe ratings aren’t good enough to suffice a live finale or maybe this was the plan all along to film it a few days in advance.
I think that’s due to the production cost. I think Ten was planning a live finale in front of a large audience before the network was placed into administration.
Well, they must filming two alternative endings then which while this is standard these days but knowing it makes you think it’s so fake (well, even more fake than these reality shows are).
I doubt they would wait a few days before finale airs to film two alternative endings. In that case it could have just been filmed in Samoa. A reunion is pointless without a winner. Obviously the reason the audience is so small and restricted is because of this. Filming it close to air date and making everyone sign non disclosures should keep it pretty wrapped. Like I mentioned TBL finales were also often filmed just a few days before their airdate as well.
Yep. I reckon just about every viewer would have been hanging out for that vote, and they took it away from us. Epic dumbness.
Oh Jericho underlining Jarrad’s own name at the vote, after being told by Jarrad to do so with his vote, was a CLASSIC Survivor moment! Loved it.
I’m glad at least Tessa summarised Locky/Tara’s relationship perfectly.
But happy to see the pink tribe of crappy nobody players like Pete, Ziggy, Annalise etc. collapse tonight. Plus Jarrad was becoming way too annoying, thinking he was some sort of mastermind. Thankfully Henry saw through it and suggested his name, otherwise the rest of them would have had no idea to vote him out.
Hated the reward where Tessa was shafted, ending up with nothing more than everyone else even though she won.
Jury Villa is back for season two. First ep is up. J-rad doesn’t seem to have a clue who voted for him. Just to confuse things for him Pete underlined Luke’s name on his vote.
The 12 remaining contestants just combined their old tribal names into one: Asatau. Last year, the merged tribe at least took time to think before creating a new name (Fia Fia).
I hope last night’s vote doesn’t mean those guys just dominate the next few votes. A season run by Henry/Locky/Luke is going to be boring. Get out the physical threats!
Michelle is all over the place. I don’t necessarily think switching was the best move for her. Either way she went she is still on the bottom of either alliance. Now she has just lost trust with a bunch of people.
I hated this too. It actually made the entire challenge pointless. As if anyone wasn’t going to give out the letters. It was stupid and then there was food waiting at camp anyway. Typical Aus Survivor just dragging everything out.

According to the ad for this week there are supposed to be 3 massive blindsides. So I am hoping that the group of Pete, Annaleise,Ziggy and Tessa dont get picked off one by one. At this point I want Ziggy and Tessa to win. The worst possible final four for me would be Locky, Luke, Jericho and Henry.

Agree those 4 you listed are the ones I can’t stand. Hopefully they go. Jericho does my head in with his comments and over the top narration. I think he referred to the merge as being a “war” about 6 times.
That episode was a joke. Immunity is immunity. Annaliese earnt that advantage. Well done producer interference for moulding the outcome. Very quickly getting over this season.
Plus Ziggy is stupid. Why would you use the Idol so early and not on yourself? Watch her be one of the next to go.

Completely agree. I think this was one of the stupidest moves made on any Survivor. Wasting your idol on such a non threat like Annaleise instead of using it to get out some of the threats like Locky, Henry or Luke. Dumbfounding. And only because she didn’t trust her from the start. She should be thinking at this point who she could win against and she is far more likely to win up against Annaleise than Henry or Locky. She is playing a pre merge game post merge.
The ad for tomorrows episode shows everyone supposedly voting for Henry. Whats the bet that Henry plays his idol and Ziggy is voted out without using her idol as she doesnt see it coming.

That would be great Karma but I can’t stand Henry and want him gone.
Also this is how stuffed up Aus Survivor is… Annaliese was voted out twice. The first time she had no Idol yet was safe. The second time played an Idol and went home. It all just makes sense, right. 
I am struggling to really like anyone left… apart from Sarah and maybe Tessa . The rest are awful and I hate Ziggy after tonight.

I’m loving this season. This week’s tribal blindsides have been epic; some of the players are really displaying great strategy and manipulation of the other players. Always good to see a player conned into a dumb move.

Ziggy fell right into Henrys trap. it made zero sense to play the super idol to eliminate someone that you were working with that was no threat to you. And now henry has an immunity idol that can not be overriden. I hope tessa and pete can divide the rest of the tribe and eliminate ziggy and lochie.

She actually said she voted for Annalise because she didn’t “trust” her yet at the start of this very episode Lachy was bullshitting to people, including Ziggy, about not being the one who flipped on Jarrad - a total lie right to her face.
Can’t stand Henry. The way he was throwing himself about at that challenge…Acting like eating the jam was a big power play…Calling Annalise a flipper even though he straight away after the merge left the pink tribe and headed back to blue.

I’ve just checked out of the season and am now just watching because I’ve come too far. Total shitfest that I doubt can be salvaged at this point.
That episode was total bullshit. I really felt for Annaliese especially when they were all laughing and patting each other on the back as she was getting her torch snuffed. Total douches. Tara was particularly obnoxious. Yeah you won, but have some decorum. Poor winners on a season stacked with unlikable wankers.
Ziggy was a total dumbshit. She allowed a bunch of guys to dictate her moves solely for their advantage. Stevie Wonder can see how close all those douche guys are so for lay on her back and kick her legs in the air presenting herself was disgusting to watch, especially as she chucked her only loyal two people under the bus. So now she like 7th banana on an alliance that doesn’t need or want her. Nice one Zigmeister.
Also why is it a good move to still keep the strong challenge performers around Ziggy? Ape man has come dangerously close to winning both immunities and has performed much better than Ziggy as a whole. To use the idol so early was also the biggest mistake when her name hadn’t even come up. She also isn’t thinking of her resume. This would have been the biggest move she could have made, taking ownership of the Locky vote out and still with an idol in her pocket. Dumb bimbo and a flake to boot.
Totally agree with those about the sham of the super idol. That sort of shit is ruining Survivor.
Man bun would have to be one of the biggest cockheads on tv. I PMSL that he actually thinks he has had total domination of the game up until this point. I guess we’ll conveniently forget about him being a bottom feeder when he switched tribes. Though I do wonder why so many people are up his arse when they have caught him out on lies. Henry really must thank his lucky stars for getting so many gullible idiots.
Speaking of gullible idiots. That little Pygmy actually believed Henry found the idol just like that after searching for ten days by himself. Jericho really does think with his dick, all his decisions have been following the guys he wants to get banged by. I doubt he has an original idea in his head and all that bullshit talk about Armies. That really needs to be a drinking game.
