Australian Survivor

It was more like extreme version of water polo than basketbrawl. Brutal. The mud game was funny though.

It was quite a funny episode. Rohan giving up the idol was a bit stupid. Why didnā€™t Rohan vote for Sue?

Next challenge on Survivor will be a spelling one ā€œSpell your tribe mateā€™s namesā€- guess which tribe will fail miserably.

So glad that annoying bitch got turfed.

Andrew next, hopefully.

That was a really stupid decision, but it seems par for the course on Australian Survivor. I donā€™t think Iā€™ve seen Phoebe contribute once in challenges. Sheā€™s failed at puzzles, she offers no physical strength, was useless in the basketball challenge and was the last one to get her hair covered in mud. Additionally Kat had no ties to Saanapu, the only easy target without solid ties.

Found it pretty funny that Phoebe was the one lecturing Kat on decency and respect. LOL the irony. As was her being perceived as the scorpion temptress or some crap. Yep Phoebā€™s youā€™ve got the two faced, using, useless villainess edit distinctly lacking in charm.

Lee showed himself to be a shallow, chauvinistic pig, but as if that revelation was a surprise.

Really disappointed Craig never found the idol. Itā€™s also strange that Craig had been actively looking for days with a clue and came up short but lshe came up trumps in one single morning. Wonder which producer tipped her off.

I also find it interesting that nearly every season of Survivor there is always one annoying ratty young woman that feels the need to bully and target an older woman. Why is that? Usually we get the stock standard excuse of ā€˜she was jealous of my beautyā€™ card but Phoebe decided to play the useless and ageist trump card. So delusional and incredibly lucky.

Iā€™ve got a favourite. But wait I will probably spell her name incorrectly as well. Phoebe?

Yeah forgot that the Aussie version did a revote to resolve a tie a few eps back, sorry.

Chris, I thought the American version doesnā€™t do rocks any more at any stage? I might be mistaken again but there seems to have been a few fire making challenges recently and ones where I recall a large amount of people watching on (the jury perhaps though?).

Yeah Iā€™m calling bullshit. Craig had very specific instructions and couldnā€™t find it, and mysteriously we just see Phoebe with it in her hands? Where was it? We didnā€™t even see.

Producer would have asked, in crafting a confessional statementā€¦are you on the bottom? Yes. Have you thought about looking for an idol? No. Where would one be? Not sure. Have you noticed anything funny about where Craig went to yesterday? etc. etc.

Yeah, she was a nasty bitch. Did you see the way she snapped at LaPaglia when he said she was struggling through the challenge? She was. She was last over the roped pyramid, and struggled through the step-through maze at the tail end.

Whoā€™s the idiot with the ponytails? She seemed shocked when Kat stated at TC tonight that Kat had pledged her loyalty to Vavau previously. No shit, thatā€™s why Kat voted with them for Rohanā€¦why did you decide to go along with that plan? What a dopey.

Iā€™d hate it if he won. Canā€™t stand him at all.

It was the jury.

Iā€™m going one step further and saying she was virtually handed it. There was some dodgy camera work and the idol pouch looked very clean without dirt. Also the place where she ā€˜foundā€™ it wasnā€™t very distinctive at all.

I also find it hard that a bimbo that alienates her tribe by telling the boot order so the person can hear, canā€™t even formulate a coherent strategy with her closest ally and canā€™t lie convincingly to save herself would manage to find something so quickly.

It isnā€™t the first time a player has snapped at the host. Her foot did get caught and she was on the end of carrying the pole so it sort of stands to reason she would be last over the pyramid.

I also feel like the original Aganoa had a bullying issue which was severely downplayed by the edit. Kat and Kristie seem to have bore the brunt of it and would explain Katā€™s seething hatred for Zoolander himself and her coming accross as a relentless bitch, which I loved by the way.

The idiot with pony tails is Krusty Kristie.

I would too but I have a feeling he might win. Iā€™m pretty confident the winner is on the blue tribe and Sam, Kylie & Lee make it very far. Loved to be proven wrong though.

Not just the Aussie version. So does the US. Always.

Nope. Thats why we rarely see a tie on a revote as people donā€™t want to draw rocks. The last time I think was the first Blood vs Water (season 27) but weā€™ve since had some ties at the Final 4. Apart from the very first few seasons where they went on previous votes the below rule applies:

In a case of a tie, the players in question would not vote, while the remaining players vote again and are immune from the revote. If the tie holds at the revote, the vote is deadlocked.

If the deadlock occurs at any time before the final four Tribal Council, the rest of the tribe except those who were in the tie, won individual immunity, or used a Hidden Immunity Idol will draw rocks, and the player who gets the uniquely colored rock will be eliminated (if only one person would be eligible to draw rocks, they are eliminated by default), unless the remaining players who are not involved in the tie unanimously agree to eliminate either of the tied castaways (as happened in ā€œLie, Cheat and Stealā€). At the final four Tribal Council, the two tied players will instead have to perform a fire making challenge, where the loser goes home.

If a tribe enters Tribal Council with only two members, as happened to the Ulong tribe in Survivor: Palau, no official vote is held and the tribe goes straight to fire making.

As for last night I feel like Iā€™m getting into the season now that there are less people. Well only one contestant stands out for me and thatā€™s probably because sheā€™s the underdog and thatā€™s Phoebe. I canā€™t help but cheer for her, but also agree that her finding the Idol is a bit suss. Given Craig has tried searching for it at least twice with a clue and she just spots it right up. Andrew though is an idiot. Too early in the game to be so cocky and overconfident. He seems very similar to a Russel Hantz / Tony type character. I hope Phoebe can get revenge on him with that Idol.

The big downfall of this season is still how they picked the tribes last week. You had a strong tribe win the challenge, who then went and picked a strong team. Now they are dominating every single challenge. That whole concept was just stupid and tribes should have switched more fairly. Iā€™m assuming though tonight or Sunday there will be another tribe switch up (and probably some gimmicky twist or non vote off ep).

Phoebe languishing now at the bottom is called karma. I actually gave her props for being strategic at her old tribe, but itā€™s clear she was the brightest spark in a pack of defective bulbs. I canā€™t give her any credit anymore as sheā€™s pretty much either hopeless or useless. When she gets power it goes to her head and when she has none sheā€™s a dumb hypocrite. Though now the producers have helped her out Iā€™m sure sheā€™ll be okay for the moment.

Andrew is just a try hard poser. I donā€™t like him and I donā€™t hate him. Heā€™s just kind of there. I do think he has the ability to be a grade a asshole like Russell, but Russell had plans and ideas that workedā€¦initially. He does seem to have the inept and clueless abrasiveness going on though. He also canā€™t read people very well. For all his talk Iā€™m not sure of how much killer instinct he has. So far heā€™s been all mouth.

I agree about the tribes. I donā€™t think yellow is completely hopeless, they may get lucky, but they lack brawn, common sense and puzzle makers. If thereā€™s no boot again tonight so soon after the last ones itā€™s going to piss me off. The stop start nature is going to get really tedious as the show goes on and it will probably kill any momentum the show has.

Iā€™m starting to think that Andrew is a bit of an act. In the sense that he claims that heā€™s a super fan so wants to be memorable and remembered as this hard player who has controlled the game (like Russell or Tony). However a superfan should know that playing this way very rarely pays off (Tony in Cagayan was the only real exception). The attitude that he has in the preview for tonightā€™s episode which is basically the people who voted for me are next to go is just pathetic and Iā€™m not sure I take him so seriously because surely heā€™s smarter than that. Next his own alliance will be onto him if he thinks he is going to make all the calls.

Yeah everytime the show has momentum they then go and kill it. I reckon tonight will probably be a normal episode but by Sunday it will probably be time for a tribe switch of some sort so it wouldnā€™t surprise me if then itā€™s a no boot episode again or some gimmicky twist instead of Tribal. Then we would expect it again at the merge ep as well.

I agree to an extent. I think his bravado is all show and heā€™s desperately trying to make himself memorable and over exaggerate his behaviour. I feel deep down he is genuine and I feel like Lee, Matt, Sam, Kristie & Jenna are the biggest phonies out there. I also feel some of his actions are powered by his insecurities, but most of all just a really big lack of self awareness. I doubt he realises that most of his actions in his tribe are coming off pretty bad, much like Nick. I doubt he thinks heā€™s playing or strategy is coming across as terrible. He isnā€™t alone in that either.

As for him vowing revenge in the preview Iā€™d say that itā€™s a predominant mix of fear, paranoia and wanting revenge. Iā€™d have the same reaction too. From memory he only addressed the camera and didnā€™t have a Rupert-esque blow up like in Pearl Islands so there was no real harm done. I do think him over playing it might have at least creeped in a little though.

I also think his biggest crime is trying to find witty soundbites to ensure his head is always visible. Heā€™s been really struggling and getting tongue tied and he hasnā€™t been making much sense. Ducks in a barrel? Is he channeling Alecia and her embryos?

As for crediting him for being smarter than that, I wouldnā€™t. The real question is though does he have the balls to actually follow through with a plan of his own instead of waxing lyrical about it and taking orders from Craig and Sue and even Kate.

One thing of note though was last week on Tenā€™s popularity poll contest he was by far and away the leader which was quite frankly bullshit as he had no where near enough screen time or presence to warrant that. So heā€™s not above stooping to new lows like rigging an online poll to ensure that he gets attention and is memorable.

On some other Survivor sites there were actually other pre-season polls I saw (mostly American sites) and he ranked the highest in all of those as well. Everyone was dumbfounded why as he didnā€™t even really feature in any of the pre-season commercials. Is he that full of himself that he is voting for himself (ore recruited people to vote him) in all these polls? Seems like it.

Chris I agree. The show has become a lot easier to watch with less contestants and only two tribes. I have never been a big fan of the three tribes to be honest. Just out of curiosity has the American version ever done 4 tribes? Not that I want it.

Yes. It was a disaster with only 16 contestants and I think it only lasted an episode or two. It was season 12 Panama where it was split into young men, old men, young women, old women. It also occurred in season 13 Cook Islands with 20 contestants this time divided by race. Producers freaked out when the white tribe decimated its competition so a little production help was necessary to secure a minority win. It was supposed to happen again in season 14 but a girl quit and we had 19 players.

Heā€™s definitely recruited. I would really pity him if he wasted all of his time alone doing those meaningless polls. Just sad and embarrassing.

This is slowly turning into TBL 2015, with one team winning every challenge.

Although tonightā€™s episode had two challenges it finished at 8.54pm, unless previous ones which sometimes did not finish until 9.15pm. Was it due to tighter editing or less ads?
