Australian Survivor

Perhaps Tony Armstrong or Janine allis?

Or a completely left of field option: Patricia Karvelas,

Perhaps they feel they can sell the show better overseas with David as host after his deal or no deal island exposure?

Tonh Armstrong would be a great get!

Maybe go with a host who is a fan and always watches it.

JLP’s post attracted many comments from Survivor expert Shannon Gaitz and former contestants, all praising his hosting.

I think this will be the beginning of the end of our version. Ratings have been a bit but sub par the last couple of seasons but it is odd for them to think a host change is what it needed. I don’t see that helping things, JLP was fine in the role and suited it. This could be the nail in the coffin and end up being like when Kyle & Jackie O took on Big Brother.

This is what JLP said on his insta

Australian Survivor has seen some of the most epic blindsides over the last 10 years, but this one might just be the craziest of them all… because it happened to me. I received a call from the Network thanking me for all my hard work and dedication to the show but for next season they are ā€˜going in a different direction’. Ratings had dipped a bit recently and they wanted to do something drastic to shake things up. So for the first time ever this is not a tribe swap, but a HOST SWAP. Yes, you read that right.
I wish I could say, ā€œBefore we go to vote, tonight is a little different…no one’s going homeā€. But I can’t. None of that non-elim bullshit tonight! Someone IS going home. And with no idol in my back pocket, that someone is me.

I have loved and will dearly miss the immensely talented crew, all the crafty players and our loyal sassy audience. I’m a huge fan of this incredible game, always have been, always will be.
It has been one of the greatest adventures of my career to helm Australian Survivor, so it is without a doubt the hardest challenge of all to snuff my own torch but here goes; ā€œJLP…the tribe has spokenā€
But don’t pull out your hankies just yet, I’ll still be at the helm for Australia v World… probably our best season EVER!

(Ps. Whoever said a blindside is the most humane way to put someone down is an idiot. It hurts like a bitch!) #SurvivorAU

Wouldn’t The Project team be released/off contract upon the last episode on Friday?

Scott Tweedie another potential option

Surely they are just trying to use someone on contract that likely has next to little work.

What is going on with channel 10. These are not the things they should be changing. It’s the management they should be looking at.

This surely just comes down to $. Production costs continue to increase as ad revenue continues to decrease. He’d be fairly expensive talent as well you’d think.

He’s doing Australian Idol isn’t he? And Survivor and Idol air as competitors.

You are probably right doesn’t mean it’s the right direction to go in. Want ratings to go up? Then stop commissioning axed shows from other networks and try and be the bold network that got you talking.

A monumentally stupid decision from 10. JLP is the heart and soul of Survivor.

In the history of dumb TV decisions this is right up there near the top. Can guarantee axing JLP will lose many more Survivor viewers than it will keep or gain - not once in the 10 years or so he’s been hosting have I seen any real complaint about him which is pretty much unheard of in reality TV and he’s clearly as much enthusiasm fir the show now as he did a decade again - viewers can always spot when a long standing host is now just cashing the cheques.

P.S. Also looks like Ten are screwing up their other major reality franchise before it even begins by limiting it to just 4 weeks.

It would just be smarter to cancel the show than change hosts if ratings are what they are targeting. Would save more money doing that.

Oh dear, this has all the hallmarks of a series being driven off a cliff. 2026 will be the final season.

If a popular host is being dumped to save costs, it’s probably an indicator that many other forms of cuts are going to be made and 10 is planning on taking a loyal fan base for granted.

As for replacements; I recall Ben Lawson once said he was a fan, he could be a good option. He was on The Project last week, maybe that’s a hint?
