There’s gotta be more to this. Perhaps he demanded much more $$$ and they simply said no, we will go in a different direction thanks.
Just seems odd for them to dump a strong performing host, especially when survivor AU is considered one of the best iterations in the world and how that have only ever had one host in the US.
I think you are trying to dig a little deep. It’s very clear 10 are making huge cuts. The project, in a celebrity not being live and now this. 10 are in a spiral.
Matt Moran has also indicated he’s a big fan
So is Maggie Beer!
He’s beloved by audiences both locally and abroad, and his departure feels less like creative evolution and more like a move driven by other factors. It’s possible contract negotiations may have stalled, with La Paglia potentially asking for more than Network 10 was willing to commit.
TV Blackbox also understands there were at times tensions between La Paglia and the show’s Executive Producer, which may have contributed to the decision to move on.
Sam Pang?
Hasn’t it already been reported it’s David? I don’t think it will be anyone else…
Chris brown?
Well they have to give Rove, Waleed, Robert Irwin and Julia Morris something else to do… watch this space
I don’t thiink I’ve ever seen such a unanimous reaction to a decision - but that’s what happens when you make such an obviously stupid decision. They won’t rethink though - TV execs are too stubborn to do that. At best they might run one series without him then see if they can get him back, but I suspect he’d tell them where to go. Indeed even if they U-turned this week I suspect JLP would pretty much give the same response - you’re not going to want to work where you’re not wanted.
That’s fair - I think the one wildcard is the audience reaction - would he come back after seeing the love from the audience (perhaps with a new found respect from Ch10 & the production after seeing this reaction ).
It may not be likely but it’s possible.
(Also if the transition to a new host fails & 10 axe the show, could also see 9 or 7 rebooting it with JLP
So the bean counters at 10 thinks that JLP is asking for too much and they went No yet they pay Bev McGarvey to sit back and commission some shockers for how many years? Talk about priorities.
Survivor is literally the only show that’s keeping 10 afloat against MAFS and whatever Seven has and is a killer in the demos. Why would they mess with that?
For every step they take forward they simultaneously take 2 steps back.
I’m not worried about anyone or any network commissioning shockers. I think it has to be looked at when you keep making the same mistake over and over again. 10 News has been tried at 6pm and 6:30pm so many times over the last 15 years by her. Yet her answer to axing the project was to do that again? Same goes for survivor lacklustre ratings and the answer is to replace a host. They did this before and it never worked. For me if you have run out of ideas it’s time to step down.
There are reports suggesting that JLP was dumped as Survivor host via an email from production company Endemol Shine Australia. Not only that, a production insider told Pedestrian TV that that the decision to axe JLP was a combo of cost cutting and JLP wanting to be more involved in the series.
The production company Endemol Shine, apparently sees hosts as “mouthpieces” — not creative partners, according to the insider.
“That’s kind of the top-down feeling from that company. They don’t empower their hosts,” he alleged.
It feels so weird to see the promos without JLP front and centre.
It’s not a LIVE finale right? cause that would be awkward
They haven’t done live finales for years. And if they did they would probably just get someone else like they did during covid.
