I barely even watched this last night but you would think that someone quitting would be an opportunity to speed up the season a little and get 2 people out, given there are still 20+ contestants. But nope… Ten are committed to 26 episodes (I’m scared where those extra eps come from). More often than not when people quit or are medically evacuated on US Survivor they till go ahead with tribal councils, as they cater for the possibility of a contestant dropping out at some point (which they can make up later in the season by altering the number of people in the finale or have one of those two tribal eps if nothing like that happens). The only exception was last season where there were multiple medevacs they skipped a tribal for one of them but that was post merge. Given a tribe has lost a challenge IMO they should always have to go through with tribal council regardless.
That tribe though are stupid for keeping a guy who clearly wanted out a couple episodes ago.
Agree the Red Tribe should have been forced to vote. I would have loved to have seen the outcome as I’m not convinced Kat would have left. I’m betting Phoebe would have tried to oust Rohan.
As for the skipped tribal they used to do it pretty often in seasons with less players which is why they went to 18/20 people per season.
I’m hoping Aus Survivor will avoid doing recap episodes but with 26 episodes I can’t see how they can milk more episodes with the amount of contestants.
I also got the impression that the story that building was a blindside for Rohan. But for some reason, they seem to have kept Kaftan Kat out of the loop. How easy would it have been to tell her that the discussion she overheard was part of a blindside.
Australian Survivor’s Jaw Dropping Twist.
Tonight At 7.30pm.
Tonight’s dramatic episode of Network Ten’s new family entertainment series Australian Survivor is one that will have the whole of Australia talking.
In this must-see television event, the three tribes are shocked by the biggest twist in the game so far, a surprise that that nobody saw coming. Divisions are exposed and alliances crumble, as the contestants turn on each other in the hope of saving themselves.
The 20 remaining contestants are competing in the toughest game on television and with $500,000 prize money on the line, tonight’s Tribal Council proves they will do anything to win.
Surprised, shocked and with jaws dropping all around the camp, one tribe mate declares: “This game just tipped on its head.”
Biggest twist in the game so far that nobody saw coming? Let me guess that someone plays an Idol lol. I hope I’m wrong and it’s something differeny because playing an Idol is not a twist and part of the game. I feel like the Australian commercials are going to ruin any excitement surrounding blindsides because we are always going to see them coming. Also this episode is scheduled to run for 100mins so half the viewers might be asleep by the time this happens.
I actually didn’t mind Kat being left out of the loop as her reactions are a gold mine. Plus not telling Kat ensures she gives realistic responses and doesn’t spook Rohan. I have to admit teary Kat dressed in her huge stripped pants was a highlight.
As for the the twist what’s the bet the past boots are coming back sans quitter. It would give them the extra episodes they crave. I also can’t think of anything else draw dropping. Tribal switches happen all the time but it could be the usual overhyped crap we’ve come to expect from the networks.
Oh yeah possibly the 3 tribes will become two after tribal but once again that’s a usual part of the game though lol. We all know how Aussie network commercials overhype everything so I doubt it’s much to be honest. It was supposedly a major twist when the girl was voted off unexpectedly in the second episode.
26 episodes though means that even if its 3 or 4 in the finale then they need to make up about 5 episodes. Even if the reunion counts as an episode that means there’s still a few episodes to make up. Unless they do a couple of special ponderosa style eps towards the end or recap eps otherwise the only way I can see it is redemption island coming into play at some point. Please don’t become so gimmicky with implementing twists like that mid season.
It could be but surely that doesn’t justify 100 minutes. Also tribe switches happen at the beginning of episodes so you can see the fallout immediately. It’s also a little weird to tell only one tribe about the switch and at tribal unless the red team loses and they get absorbed by the other two.
I hate the redemption island twist with a passion. It’s single handed produced two shit seasons in S22 and S23 and was terrible in Blood v Water. You’re right though it does make sense and that whoever is voted out tonight will be the first sent there. It also generates an extra episode with finding out who will be brought back.
C’mon a reality tv show that doesn’t rely on gimmicks? LOL. It doesn’t exist. If Survivor does survive it will be no thanks to Ten who are trying it to kill it at every opportunity.
If there is a significant twist tonight then I think we could be on the money with that one. It kind of makes sense and would make up those extra episodes.
I was never a fan of Redemption Island either and they would never do it again in the US, but for me one time it did add to a season was in the first Blood vs Water as pre-merge it caused a lot of drama when family members were voted out and resulted in conflict at the duals.
Redemption Island sounds like a good bet. The twist can have some unexpected results - I remember the season that Ozzy volunteered to be voted to go to RI. He came back then got voted off again and came back again or something like that. It can make it hard to get rid of a strong player.
The three tribes are shocked by the biggest twist in the game so far, and the contestants turn on each other in the hope of saving themselves.
LaPaglia drops one bombshell that changes Tribal Council — and changes the entire game. Then, as the contestants are reeling from that shock, he reveals ANOTHER twist.
I always found that conflict really contrived, more so than usual and never cared for it.
I thought Probst liked redemption island and was considering bringing it back? He mentioned that it could come back and that they only rested it for new gimmicks. After all it was essential in helping his favourite ever guy Boston Rob win.
One of the worst seasons and the whole concept goes against what survivor is about. You shouldn’t get a second chance. It also makes it too easy for production to rig results so there pet can get further, like Ozzy.
They were going to have Redemption Island in the more recent Blood Vs Water that Natalie won (San Juan Del Sur, season 29) but they pulled out of the idea literally days before filming. That is why in that season pre-merge they had those silly challenges where one person from one tribe went up against their family member on the other tribe to battle for reward. It was simply because they already had the arena set up. I havn’t heard of any mention of Redemption Island since and I think that was a sign that they probably wouldn’t do it again.
Yeah that season was 100% rigged for Rob, not to mention purposely casting the dumbest cast ever who were all star struck by Rob and just let him run the show. Interesting you mention Ozzy because (read if you want to know theme of a future season) Ozzy will be returning on season 34 that they have just been filming as it’s going to be some sort of Legends themed season (i.e. lots of winners and 3rd and 4th time players on the returning cast
I missed tonights episode but saw the twist of two tribes at Tribal Council… sounds like they are making it up as they go? We’re people really voting for someone they hadn’t met?
No they voted to elminate their own members but it turned out that vote would see the ‘eliminated’ contestant on the other tribe. And we have just seen how they are expanding the series.
Hmm it was certainly an interesting episode. I actually enjoyed it.
I was ready to be so pissed off as soon as Jonathan said that both tribes that didn’t win would go to tribal considering they could have booted two last night yet Red got saved. Then came the twist. I love the twist. First it isn’t fucking redemption island…yet. Second I can’t wait to taste the delicious tears of red when they find out their immunity was worthless. Toolie is going to cry a bucket. Third I really like Nick and am glad he got saved.
The only downfall is I missed out on having the Weasel or Meter Maid booted. Either would have been a sweet victory.
Another positive is I can’t stand the Weasel or the Bogan so them in a minority is absolutely glorious. Yellow better deliberately lose the challenge and boot their asses out asap.
Nick and Tegan are in an excellent position at Blue. I hope they can come out on top and sway people to vote out the Meter Maid or the other guy.
Sure I guess some could say the switch sucks. US Survivor did it with China with disastrous results but considering they would have been booted otherwise I’m happy for the twist in Aus Survivor.
For once I don’t think the twist was overhyped especially as that person could bring a friend. Really looking forward to how the season plays out now.
