It was interesting to see the Australian producers pull the old “please vote me out” misdirection!
Survivor is going great for Ch 10 (yes, I know there’s only been two eps).
Smashing the key demos, solid ratings & airs three nights a week now. Sets up The Bachelor & Offspring well.
Meaning shares are
(Whether total people ratings will be higher than The Block or not, not sure, maybe some Tuesdays? Should beat Zumbo soon enough).
Brilliant show IMO
Live stream not working tonight, no Survivor for me.
Hmmm well this isn’t true… It didn’t win the demos at all this week.
40 minutes in and we are only now seeing the challenge. 40 minutes of hidden immunity idol chatter. Wow this is a bit slow at times.
Where are you pulling these numbers from? Last week Survivor was beaten by numerous shows on key demos and came 4th in its timeslot on Monday (even behind ABC)
Tonights episode is dragging. 50 mins in they had only just completed the reward challenge. Looks like it will run for at least 100mins. Zzz. It sucks because this version had/has so much potential but they are ruining it with overkill.
Also that exact Immunity Idol twist tonight has been on a US season. Most of these contestants ramble on about how big of survivor fans they are so of course they are going to know what really went on. How about come up with some unique Idol twists?
I’m actually really annoyed at this show. It is actually good. Casting is good. Challenges are good. Host is good. Drama is good. But they are absolutely ruining it by extending the episodes so they drag. I want to like it and want to watch it but I miss episodes that are only 50 minutes in length.
Woah this episode was a long one. Over 100 minutes. Please Ten try and cut that down a bit. Please…
Hopefully poor ratings makes them go back and cut down the episodes. It will turn people off especially with 3 a week you can’t expect people to be watching for up to 1 hour 45 mins (which its likely to be on Tuesday as well). To think tonights episode was almost as long as a US FINALE (which has 3 tribal councils!). I will be shocked if ratings show any improvement if they keep the episodes this length. Its at a point for me where tonight I just had it on in the background whilst I did other stuff. They are ruining Survivor.
Great episode tonight. Really enjoying seeing more of what goes on than the US version that always appears too rushed and as if you missed something. They got another interesting tribal council outcome. It seems that despite the Australian players talking less about strategy, in the end the votes usually end up being that way and much of the game play is very similar to what we have seen before.
Evan should have kept quite about finding the idol clue and just gone looking for it himself. Don’t think he will be remembered fondly especially with his parting remarks. Surprised there hasn’t been a mad rush to look for the idols yet, looks like that will be part of Monday’s episode.
Awful episode tonight. As in, literally the worst episode of Survivor I have ever seen.
It just proved how important casting is to a show.
The two dopeys on the red tribe (Rohan and Phoebe) drop the idol clue on the way back to camp.
Evan, the only guy with half a brain, actually finds the clue (although how the clue ended up near a tree trunk I have no idea) and alerts the army captain (Al).
Instead of being surprised that her two alliance members, Rohan and Phoebe, had lied to her, she turns on Evan immediately, I can only assume because she seems infatuated with Phoebe. Even when Evan was explaining to her how they those two had lied (ie explaining the two options presented to them), she had no clue what he was talking about (because, this ‘Survivor fan’ has obviously never watched the show).
In fact, her only contribution this episode was to tell the tribe they need a really strong leader (you have captains in the army - good for you).
The turd Rohan then tries, honestly, to turn it on Evan as if he had done something wrong.
So in the end the little dopey clique votes out the one person that actually alerted the other tribe members to the deception.
Cast full of dopey Aussie bogans with half a brain. It’s like Big Brother plus. I reckon barely half of these people have ever watched an episode of Survivor. No clever tribe discussion. No strategy. No nothing. Except an over the top MasterChef music editor, and a few crappy Ch 10 sneaky tricks trying to ruffle up trouble at camp (e.g. that bag mysteriously disappearing and then reappearing last week).
I must be on another planet to you. A crook lied, was caught out, then punished the innocent person that caught them - and the innocent person won’t be remembered fondly? Riiiight.
I tend to agree with almost everything that you’ve said Firetorch.
Also when it comes to this Idol twist - it was basically throwing the people who went to it under the bus because the only real option that you have is to take the clue given this exact twist has been done before on Survivor. So even if you go back with the big bag of beans everyone is going to be suspicious of you anyway so you might as well take the clue. Repeat gimmicky twists don’t work. They should have just hidden the Idol clue in a reward prize or something so at least people had the opportunity of finding it without others seeing or being instantly suspicious. But no Australian TV has to have 30 minutes of an episode solely focused on a “twist” they have implemented that didn’t even result in anybody really looking for or finding the thing.
Wow I really enjoyed the episode and thought it was the best one yet. I also didn’t mind the length but I think for mainstream audiences it really shouldn’t be that long. It’s a bit sad the ratings are going down south but not surprising.
I really hate the red team so was beyond ecstatic when they lost everything and Toolie getting hit in the head by the falling blocks made my night. So many stupid people on that team that will blindly swallow everything. Evan really screwed up by telling people individually about the clue. He should have gathered up everyone together and spilled as he was on the outs anyway. Really glad he was booted as he was beyond delusional about his status. Can’t believe he knew he was on the chopping block yet still had blind faith about his non existent alliance and just sat there waiting for his fate to be decided. Really impressed by Phoebe, she has singled handedly managed to swing a position of power in two alliances and with everyone else to dumb to notice she has managed herself a fantastic position. Still like Kat and glad she was saved. Really can’t stand Zoolander and the Army chick with the fake boobs.
Loved the yellow team as always.
Don’t like the blue team either although Miss Siamese Twin showed promise. Actually looking forward to see how she progresses and hopes she managed to royally screw over Bogan, Meter Maid and that gormless Connor. I want to really like Kylie but she’s annoying. You’re on Survivor, integrity isn’t really part of its vocabulary and yet another deluded soul about her her position in the tribe. I wish she’d gather some some self awareness. I almost wish Miss Drama Queen didn’t basically shove the clue at her because I don’t she’ll use it properly. Now as for Drama Queen I get you thought you’d be voted out but don’t moan about it when you can quit. Really wish he would leave.
It actually felt like last night it was the first time they started playing so I’m looking forward to where it’s heading now.
Oh bit shocked you didn’t like it Firetorch.
I PMSL that Zoolander dropped the clue. Typical.
Evan showed he didn’t even have half a brain. It showed he didn’t even know about the alliances and completely misunderstood the friendships. Regarding the Army chick with the fake boobs I think she just has a really strong friendship with Freebie and never trusted Evan. I mean even he admitted he wasn’t part of that group in episode 1 and probably never really bonded with them. She’s the typical dumb pawn. Love it.
I despised Zoolander in this episode and you’re right about his slimy antics. Can’t wait for the black widow Freebie to dump his ass.
I actually felt like Production was involved in both Bag-gate (although I think it could have been Kat/Freebie too) and the clue finding it’s way into Evan’s hands. I feel production has finally wakened up and realised all their likable popular people are going to get voted out first and panicked and tried to come up with a twist. Though I doubt Kylie will use it properly.
Tonights episode was a lot better and much faster. Just didn’t like how the red team got out of tribal council because someone quit. Should have still been an elimination. Or maybe they could have eliminated someone who would then go on the other team.
Dopey Rohan and Phoebe showing how dumb they are again tonight with the puzzle failure - this was much easier than earlier puzzles as it had an external boundary. They were basically just looking at the jumble of pieces the whole time without doing anything. Shocking decision by Lee to allow Rohan to do it straight off the water part of the challenge.
I feel Jonathan, if he was up to the standard of Probst, would have probed much deeper into this at tribal council. In the end it was mainly about congratulating Lee on the box lifting and letting Rohan and Phoebe slide on by with that monumental stuff up.
I very much dislike Phoebe - her bizarre controlling antics being upset at Rohan tonight because he didn’t giver her the idol made her look like an idiot.
Look I do agree that Evan could have played it much better and alerted everyone to the deception back at camp as a group.
Yeah agree. You know, if production was clever, they’d introduce a tribe swap tomorrow so now that Kat knows she was going to be the one voted out, has the opportunity to form a different alliance and it foils the others’ plans. At least that’s what the American programme would do. Not that I like Kat at all, but it would make for better TV than sending red off to do another challenge, losing, and it being a 4v2 vote again.
I thought the episode last night sucked. I hate when Survivor spends all their time hyping up a tribal only for no one to be voted out because some bitch quit. Thanks again Miss Drama Queen for ruining yet another episode. Still at least Kat lives another episode. Anyway thank god that was the last of the selfish Drama Queen who could have quit episodes ago and saved Bianca. Good riddance.
Kylie is so stupid. As if standing in the general vicinity of an idol is somehow going to miraculously make it fall into her lap. You actually have to look and dig Kylie. Silly woman.
So thrilled that red team lost and yet another demoralizing boot to Toolie’s ego. Loving Freebie the control freak. Glad she has enough brains not to trust Zoolander. I’m praying for an all girls alliance.
Yellow was great as usual. Kate’s story was amazing. Glad they let her tell the tribe without her just telling us in some tacky confessional.
So long as either Red or Blue looses tonight I’ll be happy.
I loved how stupid they looked too. They spend all their time saying how Kat sucked and they did even worse than her. I’m not surprised Lee did nothing as he doesn’t have a pair of balls. He doesn’t have a brain either.
I’m liking Jonathan a lot. I love that he doesn’t fawn over the young redneck males with muscles like Probst. I do agree he could be more probing but it takes time to get the balance right and he’s only had a couple of episodes. I think he’ll improve.
Sorry I love Phoebe. I’m glad someone on that tribe has enough brains to forge alliances and be sneaky. Her and Kat are the only two I actually like. I think it was smart of her to use the idol to test Zoolander’s trustworthiness. She now knows he’s a snake. It’s just unfortunate they have all fixated on Kat as the weakest. I would love to see Toolie and Zoolander booted. I’m also not convinced that Kat was the one to go last night.
I’m glad there has been no tribe swaps. I don’t want Yellow broken up and I want Blue and Red decimated. If that means Kat is sacrificed then so be it. US survivor has in the past let plenty of tribes implode. Both Palau and Philippines let Ulong and Matsing dissolve into nothingness. I would love the same fate to happen to the red team.
Not sure they will loose but they might lose.
