Australian Survivor

AFAIK, they’re shooting the next season in September.

Hopefully there is a long break after this season. But I’m concerned ten will return it this year. Celebrity masterchef and Making It are not returning and The bachelor franchise will probably be scaled back. so ten will have a large gap at the end of the year otherwise.

Guess it depends if The Traitors is a small project or a major tentpole.

They also have The Real Love Boat & The Challenge: Australia. Plus I’m sure they can roll out more episodes of First Dates and The Dog House if needed.

Plus Hunted.

According to EPG, tonight’s finale is nearly two hours long, finishing at 9.26pm.

Pure agony. The amount of padding is ridiculous on this show.

It’s sad that loved ones of the remaining contestants could not attend the final immunity challenge, due to COVID restrictions and border closures at the time of filming (November 2021). The contestants could only talk to their families by phone.

Well that felt like a flat and disappointing end.

Everyone seemed unlikeable at the final tribal, rolling their eyes at Shay. How was Josh so angry at Chrissy, he voted her as well.

I’m just remembering how gripping some of the previous juries have been, there was none of that.

I was rolling my eyes at her as well. She was delusional and annoying to boot.

Really? I thought she was nervous and not very eloquent, but she was doing her best. She was making a good argument about fighting and surviving most of the series from the bottom of the tribe.

Given it was a final 3 I thought voting would be much closer, instead Mark received all 10 votes from the jury members to win Sole Survivor. It’s the first time since Champions v Contenders in 2016 (actress Pia Miranda) that a contestant received unanimous jury vote.

Mark Wales Crowned Sole Survivor.

The Survivor Soldier Reigns Supreme In Australian Survivor: Blood V Water.

Ex-SAS specialist, Mark Wales, has been crowned the Sole Survivor and winner of the $500,000 cash prize in tonight’s gripping Australian Survivor: Blood V Water finale.

After 47 days of being pushed to his physical and mental limit, surviving countless challenges and Tribal Councils, plus the weight of two hidden immunity idols, Mark managed to outwit, outplay and outlast the 23 other contestants that were vying for the title of Sole Survivor alongside their loved one.

The final Immunity Challenge saw the final four contestants – Mark, Chrissy, Josh and Shay – face the greatest test of endurance yet, as they stood on a ledge that was suspended over a waterfall while they held onto pegs for their dear life.

Before the challenge that would ultimately seal their fate, the final four were treated to an emotional phone call with their families. After everything they had sacrificed over the last 46 days, there had never been so much at stake for the final four.

In an unbelievable feat, challenge beast Shay was declared the winner, taking out the illustrious Immunity, and most-importantly guaranteeing herself a spot in the final three.

Back at camp, Chrissy was tormented by an excruciating head versus heart decision, as she juggled with the choice to vote out Mark, or her greatest ally in the game, Josh.

Chrissy voted with her head, and made her first major move of the season, as she wrote down her best friend’s name, sending Josh to the Jury.

After a lavish finale breakfast, Shay, Mark and Chrissy trekked to Tribal Council for the final time, where they were up against the hard questions as they pitched and pleaded their cases to the Jury of eliminated contestants.

In a landslide vote, after playing the great game twice now, Mark was crowned the Sole Survivor of Australian Survivor: Blood V Water and the winner of a life-changing $500,000. As the enormity of the win sunk in, Mark embraced his family and the Jury, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

Mark said this morning he was only told yesterday that he had won.

Does that mean they voted different ways? For 3 different alternate endings? Wtf how does that work?

Mark was at The Project studio tonight to talk about his win.

Interesting comments from shay:

If that’s true, why was all the drama and tension edited out? I would have liked to see it, it’s exactly what the finale needed. And what other juicy content wasn’t aired throughout the season?

I’d be interested to know what the fake vote counts were for the other 2 contestants when they went through a fake winning announcement. I would also think that Mark and Sam might have suspected a win before being told officially; assuming that enough of the jury members possibly quietly leaked to the couple that they had voted for Mark.

Online spoiler etiquette has come a long way, production leaks can be avoided these days. Someone should re-think these fake endings. does the risk of a leak really outweigh ruining a genuine finale moment?

Especially on survivor, where the whole show was in a tightly controlled bubble. And its not like it’s game of thrones, with an elaborate black market for spoilers.

I’m thinking they just did 3 endings where each ending had the winners name on all the cards to the real votes we will never know. Did they all like Mark?

That wouldn’t be believable. Sam would always have voted for Mark. Yes, I think everyone on the jury all respected Mark’s game play and even liked him as a person, so a unanimous vote for him was entirely believable. I think the only believable results that had either of the other two winning would have involved votes for all three with just one vote deciding the winner.

I thought the winner’s announcement seemed quite genuine despite its fake nature.
