Australian Survivor

From memory in the past other stations took a bit of a break when the Olympics were on, however you’re right, there hasn’t been the same hype this time so Survivor could definitely work.

No opening theme for episode 2 tonight, it was straight to action after Jonathan’s brief recap of last night. I was looking forward to the familiar Survivor theme playing over the montage of the 24 contestants.

James Mathison out this season for Talking Tribal, Luke Toki returns and is joined by NOVA’s Nathan Morris.

As posted earlier in this thread, Shannon Gaitz returns with insight from former contender Nick ‘The Snake’ Iadanza.

The Brains Flex Their Muscle.

Cleaner Janelle Eliminated From Australian Survivor: Brains V Brawn.

In tonight’s episode of Australian Survivor, the Brawn Tribe learnt it’s going to take more than muscle alone to emerge victorious, as they lost their first Immunity Challenge, and snuffed the torch of Queensland cleaner, Janelle.

Waking up to another day in the Outback, the Brains were still shaken after the massive play by George at last night’s Tribal Council, which has in turn, left him with a big target on his back.

Over in the Brawn Tribe, the Tribemates continued to struggle with creating a fire, until Emmett finally came through and brought the heat.

At the Reward Challenge, one member from each Tribe went head-to-head, racing under a net to retrieve a bag buried at the end and place it in their team’s square. After taunting Joey and a long wrestle, it was Emmett who took the seemingly unstoppable Brawn to victory, as they secured their third Reward challenge in a row.

The Immunity Challenge saw the Tribes compete in a water obstacle course, to retrieve a key that opened a box with a puzzle inside. Brains’ George and Wai teamed up which proved to be the right combo to lead the Brains to their first win.

Back at camp, defeated after their first loss, Brawn Janelle was on a war path, trying to convince the Tribe that Emmett, and his smugness, need to go. Meanwhile, the rest of the Tribe suggested that in fact, she was the weakest link, and therefore should go home. Simon threw in another option: his biggest threat, Shannon.

As the votes were counted, it was revealed Flick went against the six-strong alliance, resulting in Janelle being the first Brawn eliminated, and Shannon left reeling and exposed after a failed blindside.

Tomorrow night, Castaways share their personal stories and gameplay is taken up a notch, as the first clues for an Immunity Idol emerge.

The location has been amazing. I really thought we would miss the ocean but its been stunning.

Cannot stand Emette.

Milk and coffee is a pretty lame reward for this early in the season. Some of the contestants didn’t seem too impressed.

It’s not just milk and coffee, the reward also included photos of the loved ones of the winning tribe.

I agree… the rewards should be much more massive and lucrative.

In the end the brains won the more important challenge.

I knew Gavin Wanganeen would be eliminated sometime during the competition, for he took part in the Long Walk in Perth on June 5 (when filming reached its final stages), but I didn’t expect him to be sent home this early.

The idiot no one likes has found an idol. That’s sure to fuck up the brains Tribe and cause a commotion!!

Such a good season so far.

And tonight the reward is a generous bacon & eggs + kitchen essentials + bedding?

Very inconsistent reward value.

And going by the synopsis for tomorrows episode he finds a 2nd one

Why would they reveal that online?

Well he’ll be hanging around for a bit longer. It’s good because it’s shitting the brains tribe up the wall.

It seems a bit rigged for George. The way he just magically found the Idol with no clue seemed so suss to me. It wouldn’t surprise me if he was nudged or pointed in the direction by a producer/cameraman and it seems suss if he just finds another tomorrow. Even the way that he talks seems a bit scripted to me. He’s just had too many things go perfectly for him so early on.

The promos and descriptions definitely give away way too much. I knew tonight Simon wouldn’t be going because they made it look so obvious at first but the promo indicated blindsided. Thank god he stayed. As long as Simon is there I will be watching very closely

That Benny guy was an absolute snoozefest. I’m not sure what TV show he thought he was on. Firstly telling the other alliance that Simon was the target. Then when it was a tie threatening people will be voted out next if they flipped? That was the nail in the coffin I think. Also his final words were along the lines of “To the rest of my brawn tribe, you can go fuck yourselves”.

Have to agree with this. But I do think the braun tribe have far more fuckwits than the brains one.

I love Big D, seems like he’s happy to stir the pot and will be underestimated. Joey is pretty annoying, hope he’s the next to go.

100% Emmett is a total snooze but looks so I’m here for him too haha

Apparently it was Kez and Shannon who flipped in the re-vote and helped sending Benny home. They both voted to evict Simon in the first vote.

Does anyone else think this season is getting a bit pathetic?
If the synopsis is true, is that 4 advantages/idols in 5 episodes? And 3 of them went to the same person who is arguably the most interesting and getting the biggest villain edit? Blatant producer fixing, most obvious thing since Sharn found an idol out of nowhere in the knick of time in CvC1.
The blatantly unbalanced reward challenges.
They need to get the people back who worked on Channel 10’s Seasons 1 & 2. They knew how to run a Survivor.
