I think there could be some tourism related incentives available (like the NT and Amazing Race) that would help alleviate the loss of the Fiji Govt subsidy and probable extra cost of Australian labour for set construction etc.

Northern Territory would be amazing

What some locations you would suggest for NT?

If they dont get eaten by crocs

How great would the NT be for I’m a celebrity for that very reason.

Ross Clarke-Jones is suing Endemol Shine in the Supreme Court of Victoria for the serious injury he sustained during the filming of Champions v Contenders last year. He is claiming damages, loss of past and future earnings, and medical expenses after injuring his ankle during a rope challenge.

I did wonder if he would do that. The show should have come to a agreement outside of court.

He would hae signed a waiver when he accepted the money/contract. How will he have a case?

I was watching that episode with my family, the second the rope snapped we all instantly saw this coming. I was surprised how much of it went to air considering how legally sensitive that could become.

I’ve remember when beauty and the geek moved offshore there was speculation that it was to avoid strict oh&s and liabilities that apply to productions on Australian soil. Will be interesting to see how this goes down.

What do you mean?

he was going to be involved in physical challenges and malnourished (part of Survivor) there would have been a waiver for him not to sue if something happened.

They still have to keep the contestants safe and cannot be negligent.

I assume he’s able to sue because the rope broke, which clearly wasn’t his fault. While a contract would’ve been in place I can’t imagine the producers would’ve walked away from this without already giving him some money. Perhaps he’s after more money?

Waivers are not that watertight, no workplace can completely sign away all liabilities. If he was injured after slipping in the mud or from a falling coconut. Ie. something not directly the fault of the production, then a waiver might apply. But in this case he was using a prop designed by the production, using it the way it was intended. The production companies duty of care should apply.

I would say the producers offered him some money but it wasn’t enough. A supreme court battle is not cheap for him or them.

the rope broke cause he was too heavy. like probably the reason they never made Casey Donovan do a bungee jump challenge on ImACeleb.

So who’s fault is that then?
