Good. No more fighting lol
But yeh. It’s a good show. The acts are just subpar. Which is a shame.

No more fighting. Lol
I will say that if these people auditioned for The Voice they wouldn’t get any chair turns at all. A much higher standard over there.
Perhaps because the show is shit?? And that seven don’t know what they’re doing. They have over estimated the nostalgia. No one gives two fucks about this nonsense.
Royston’s going to win this thing - he’s ridiculously talented.
Absolutely disagree lol.
Good point. But don’t you have to have an agent to appear on The Voice? Maybe that’s the difference.
I also think they’ve royally failed with the age limit. All I keep hearing is ‘I’m so young. I’m only 18’. Amali hasn’t been in love before and was trying to sing a love song
If I’m wrong, I’ll gladly send you a slab of beer.
Way to kill a Madonna song. Who is helping these kids?
Phoebe’s fast-track to the Top 10
Stunning performance gives teen immunity
Australian Idol 's Live Shows kicked off tonight on Channel 7 and 7plus with breakout performances as the Top 12 rocked the stage hoping to win Australia’s vote as the next Idol.
Fifteen-year-old high school student Phoebe Stewart stunned the judges and live audience with her haunting performance of Beneath Your Beautiful by Labrinth feat. Emeli Sande. Judges Kyle Sandilands, Meghan Trainor, Amy Shark and Harry Connick Jr unanimously agreed to protect the teen’s place in the competition, granting her immunity in Monday night’s Live Verdict show.
Josh Hannan also proved himself a star-in-the-making with The Fray’s You Found Me. Harry described the Victorian’s performance as the perfect balance of poetry and accessibility, saying he did an “incredible job” and commending his song choice.
Song choice was a hot topic for the night. Maya Weiss’ performance of Cold Heart by Elton John and Dua Lipa came under fire from Kyle, who believed in her talent but doubted her song choice, saying: “You’re a great signer, but there was something shit about it!”
Anya Hynninen received similar feedback for her performance of Madonna’s Papa Don’t Preach, with Meghan telling the Idol hopeful she had a “soulful” voice but didn’t get the chance to show it off.
University student Royston Sagigi-Baira was applauded for his take on Michael Jackson’s Man In The Mirror and held up by the judges as an example of how to make their mark on a song. Meghan said: “That’s how you take a song and make it your own. You should be so proud of yourself.”
While some artists hit the highs, the pressure of the hotly-contested competition started to show for others, with nerves undercutting their performance. Harry Hayden’s pitchy performance of How Will I Know by Whitney Houston left the judges flat, but they all sympathised with the performer about having an “off day” on the stage.
Tomorrow night on Australian Idol: Voting is now open! Australia decides which artists will proceed to the next round of the competition. Australian Idol judge Meghan Trainor performs her smash hit Made You Look live on the Idol stage.

I noticed that #AustralianIdol trended in the top 10 for the first time in recent weeks. Whether that translates into extra viewers … join us tomorrow to find out
I see so it’s the verdict show which is Live aedt.
I think the Monday show is Live but they have combined both Sunday & Monday together in 1 promo to make it seem they are both Live
Interestingly Seven uploaded the performances first to 7plus before the entire episode, so that viewers can vote right now.
Every episode before tonight was posted on 7plus immediately after it finished airing in Sydney and Melbourne.
It will be fairer if every contestant is subject to viewer voting. That will mean during the results show there will be a bottom four, the judges collectively save one contestant, then the two contestants with the lowest public votes will be eliminated.
The promo made it reasonably clear that the Monday results show is the live show.
Why the performance show isn’t live (even though it’s arguably the show that would benefit the most from it) is head scratching.
The performances overall were a mixed bag with a few clear standouts. Based on performances I would predict anyone of Harry, Maya, Ben and Anya to be in the bottom. Someone like Harry just showed what an awful choice he was to put through. He was bad in the Top 24 and should not have gone through. Last night proved that including him was clearly a miss.
I really hope that the judges ‘Save’ each week does always go to someone that performed well. I almost lost it when they started commenting on potentially using it to save someone that didn’t perform well who they think needed it. Thankfully they didn’t do that this week.
Is this true? If so there is too much judges involvement. They saved someone last night and then get to save someone again that’s in the bottom? It is meant to be Australia deciding.
They clearly want that extra time to set up staging between acts. Although if SBS could do a live version of Australia Decides last year, I’m sure Seven should be able to do this for Idol.
Just want to make it clear it is my own suggestion. It is better than the current method of judges saving a contestant at the end of performance show, then have viewers voting for the remaining contestants. It is only fair that every contestant should be subject to public vote every week.
It definitely wasn’t clear. There has been ongoing widespread confusion.
Todays episode has ‘LIVE’ under the 7 watermark
Well we have one of the clear best contestants (Noora) in the bottom and the worst (Harry) is a safe. Let’s see how this pans out.
I should’ve voted… but according to Ricki-Lee at the start of the show they received 500,000 votes so wouldn’t have made much of a difference.
I don’t get the point of the bottom 4 performing? The result is already locked in.
