Doubt it considring 7’s reason given for holding off on Idol was because they wanted to be able to have a full audience to create live event TV.

I remember when Australian Idol first started. It was a huge moment and it really felt we were looking for the next huge thing (which we were). But now we are bombarded with reality TV shows, so it doesn’t have that same feel.

He was an absolute (literal) clown when he was on DWTS and his arrogance was astonishingly bad.
Agree that Marcia is the best and would be great to have her back. Dicko and Mark Holden are both past their use by dates.

which is why I hope 7 does something to set it apart. It sounds as if it will be live other than the auditions which will be one thing that sets it apart from all other pre recorded shows plus hopefully they stay away from all the nastiness from the judges you see in the voice and make it like it was back in the day (I know dicko had his moments).

A disappointing change already. One of the best things about the original auditions was seeing some shockers show up and embarrass themselves. Looks like it’ll be another version of The Voice where much of the talent are approached by producers or already have a background in professional singing.

You would always sing in front of the producers before the judges on Australian Idol. The producers would just let through some funny auditions to keep it entertaining.

Another show for Sonia Kruger to host?
This show will only work if it’s complete old school live format with a nostalgic panel that links back to the previous version. Otherwise it’s just The Voice again.
That is how they did it previously though. There was still a screening process before contestants got to the judges. We just didn’t see it. They would push through some of the shockers.
Yeah I agree. A former judge would be good IMO paired with a couple of former contestants. I’m thinking Ricki-Lee, Casey Donovan and Anthony Callea are likely choices for past contestants if they go down that path. Jess Mauboy would’ve been a shoe in if she hadn’t already done The Voice.

You have to be 3 x vaxed to apply. a lot of musicians gonna have to make a choice.
Why is it such a difficult choice? I think you’ll find that vaccinations were mandatory for being a contestant in any reality show over the past two years. Also, musicians were some of the most vocal about people getting vaccinated because they wanted venues to reopen and things to get back to normal so they could work.
