90.3 Sale must have been activated. Licence is owned by the Seventh Day Adventists now - ACMA Register of Radiocommunications Licences (RRL)
Wasnât on when I passed through Sale at the end of last month, so this must be extremely recent. 90.3 in Griffith is SEN Track AFAIK. If itâs Faith FM it is indeed the SDAs, they are actually more widespread than Visions now in my experience.
Central Q - Rockhampton, Yeppoon, Gladstone etc - has been booming into SEQ all night and still this morning (definitely no RDS on ABC). Interesting to get Cherbourg over Gold Coast on 94.1.
104.1 Currumbin on the Sunshine Coast TEF just now. Definitely some coastal stuff going on
WOW what a morning from Ouyen

Just a mention about 95.3 Flow FM also broadcast on the same frequancy at Speed but the ACMA wonât give them a change of frequancy because they are on the fringe of the Swan Hill licence area.
Good catch that as it doesnât get out that well.
You should have had 3HA/t on 92.9 and Mixx FM/t 93.7 as well. They get out a lot better than 3RPC.
What was the programming heard? You also have 2ABCRN Deniliquin on 99.3.
Probably more likely to be 3WM Nhill up that way, also Vision Ararat but is low powered.
Actually forgot to put that one down, It was Nhill I have also got 94.5 but not this morning.
Ventured across the Hay plains this morning on my way out to central NSW. This place is very magical when it comes to tropo reception on FM.
I had all of Swan Hill and Bendigo nationals and commercials with stereo and RDS (MixxFM), EdgeFM Deniliquin, Hit and Triple M Shepparton, and a weak 3BA on 102.3 getting strong CCI with Triple J Mount Cenn Cruiatch. Meanwhile not even a whiff of Mildura commercials, but a weak 100.3 and 104.3 were audible.
All Griffith stations were at local strength with full RDS.
AM had Gold 1071 at fair to good levels, River 1467 very weak and 5RM on 801 fair. 3WV 594 was also fair.
Definitely put of the ordinary⌠for me, 102.3 is usually empty around say Narrandera, if anything, itâd be a weak Classic FM Canberra.
Mount Cenn Cruaich isnât alien to the Hay Plains; we had it quite strong in June 2020 via aircraft scatter at Hay itself. This was with a dodgy discone type antenna and not a Yagi, though had more gain than just a whip.
I think I had it cutting in at Narrandera on my last trip in July 2025, but canât remember 100%. It wouldnât be a permanent signal by any means but probably semi regular. A bit further NE, but I had 2ABCRR 107.1 clear OTT of 2AAA coming into Junee once.
The clear path across the central NSW plains helps. This also means that it would probably make Mildura on occasion, so keep an ear out.
Mt Cenn Cruiach JJJ has actually been received in Mildura at least twice, and I had it try to pop in fairly recently in the last big tropo opening from the east. Itâs very rare though since KIIS Adelaide is usually always the dominant one.
Last night while I was in Gilgandra I tried my hand for some AM DXing. Sadly it was a very short adventure due to huge amounts of lightning from storm cells rolling in. However, in between the crackles I managed to log 1377 3MP, 1422 3XY and River 1467 very clearly. These were the only real clear frequencies that I was able to receive, as it was a mixture of adjacent channel splatter, the lightning and the noise in the motel that blocked my other locals.
FM this morning likewise was a complete bust, as no tropo was about at all. However the view to Mount Cenn Cruiach was amazing, coming from the flatlands.
How well does 2WAR (98.9) get out? I couldnât receive it at all around Narromine last year. Thatâs assuming itâs on air of course.
2WAR only gets maybe 10km at most out of town, the transmitter antenna itself is mounted up on the water tower near the showgrounds (visible from google street view). The terrain and the trees really block the signal from going all that far unfortunately
Thanks, I suspected something like that. Iâve never received it from Gulgong hill (where 2WEB Coonamble is strong) or the Warrumbungles either.
I logged 2WCR 99.5 (Coonabarabran) a couple of times from Sydney so that gets out better. This was before the frequency got iced by Katoomba.
With the current weather around, the tropo layer has been quite reflective even at 2PM in the afternoon. Lots of signals from all over the place, and one new one on 89.9 for 5RMâs Waikerie translator, which is now under going tests to be turned on.

Wyn FM 88.9 is off air at the moment in Melbourne allowing for scatter reception of mixx 88.9. Seems surprisingly common with it peaking near rds levels when planes fly over.
With some storms around Mildura today, I had an opportunity for some rare lightning skip on FM. While I did not get anything too exotic, I did make some interesting observations around lightning causing polarisation changes as well as weak tropo forming on the storm fronts. And yes, FM does have lightning crashes, which appear as a large spike of noise and audible if it is strong enough. On a distant stereo broadcast, it can cause the stereo to drop out for a moment and can also cause RDS errors.
Todays catches were mainly the ABCs from Bethungra / SW Slopes - 88.3 Classic and 89.9 ABC Riverina at 4PM in the afternoon. However, over on 92.7, I had both Classic and Fresh927, depending on the polarisation at the time. 88.7 3BPH Bendigo was also heard, also being affected by the lightning.
Also I noted that Triple J on 105.3 finally has fixed the pre-emphasis, it now sounds as good as my local on 101.1
The Hepburn maps currently show a possible path from coast to inland in Victoria. Potential for some rare catches for those based in Melbourne, the map almost looks ideal for Bendigo, Swan Hill and maybe even Mildura.
Up here in Mildura, its the usual fare of tropo related catches, with all Broken Hill FMs including 96.5 Hill FM being receivable, all favouring the vertical 3el over the horizontal wideband this afternoon. As I type this, there is a whiff of weak Mount Dundas and Shepparton commercials at the same intensity on both, with both 95.3 and 96.9 duking it out against Flow FM Speed and Meringur respectively. Rarer catches include 101.3 Mixx FM Horsham, 96.3 5MU and 102.5 Edge FM Deniliquin, all weak to good.
