Old thread:
Why is a new thread necessary if I may ask? Surely the DX thread isn’t as long as some of the TV threads.
It’s 12 thousand posts - one of the biggest on the board.
We try to close them around 10k - which we have done with almost every TV/news thread at least once since the forum moved to Discourse.
They don’t operate as seamlessly as they should once they ge to 10k and beyond.
I think 12,300 posts is about as high as the system can handle.
Wow- didn’t realise the DX thread was that popular! Yes, OK- if people are getting errors probably best to make a new thread every year.
Had a good opening to Central QLD earlier. Best catch was the locally programmed 88.0 from St George, caught with an ad for a local motel. Also had a 90.0 pirate station quite strongly playing ‘Lakini’s Juice’ by Live.
My fault guys, sorry
Working ok on my Dell laptop here, tho it does have decent specs ![]()
As the year comes to an end, here are all my FM logs for 2025 here in Melbourne. Very happy to get something from every state. Hope everyone gets good DX in 2026!!!
The 90.0 pirate FM I received today.
Here’s my map for the year from Sydney:
Also some Es from QLD earlier today on the last day of the year: (times are GMT +2)
Discourse is Dudcourse to me. Looking forward to the day this forum transitions elsewhere.
This year was above average here with DX received from 5 countries ![]()
Amazing effort @TV.Cynic, love the effort and what you return with it.
A bit of inland tropo tonight.
Most Canberra stations received with full or partial RDS, 2BRW and 89.7 News Brown Mt heard as well.
Coastal reception not enhanced however.
Another update
Classic 99.3 and JJJ 100.1 Brown Mt received.
Classic 96.7 Mt Dowe received also.
And 90.7 JJJ SW Slopes.
Had Hit105.9 Orange with RDS! Triple M heard too, strangely Sky 106.7 didn’t have RDS, usually get that before Hit
And a rare catch here… Forever Classic 100.7 Goulburn! Oddly no Goulburn ABCs though.
I have been experimenting with east to west reception via tropo on my new FMDX webserver, and have been getting most Adelaide FMs fairly consistently even without tropo on the new node setup with just an old TV wideband antenna, one which happens to also support band 2 / FM. Flipping it around 180 degrees gets the Griffith/MIA FMs fairly well whenever there’s tropo around.
On the new setup, most of my tropo catches don’t appear such as Riverland (any including ABCs or commercials) and Mount Dundas, but others like Goschen / Swan Hill ABCs often turn up off the side of the wideband - this doesn’t appear to matter which way the wideband is facing.
Final orientation will depend on where I get the best tropo from.
