We had a lot of storms here last night… must be related to that…
But it’s on air for me here now.

When I went DXing on 101.1/99.5 FM on the first 2 of your servers I had accessed, 2LT and Move FM were off-air. When I went to the 3rd TVCL webserver and went to the same frequencies, they were back, albeit with dead air. On the 2 TVCL webservers I went to before they returned with dead air, I couldn’t pick up a single radio station. As of now, 2LT and Move FM Katoomba are completely back on-air again.
Yes the CoastFM STL receiver at the transmitter site took a hit & died, I had to replace it this morning with a borrowed one from Easy FM, we have new ones on order.
I’ve repaired it now & it’s on the bench testing, if all goes well it’ll be reinstalled over the weekend & Easy Fm can have theirs back.
Coast FM transmitter never went off though, it was on backup audio until I got the STL working, which would’ve made the transmit lower than normal audio level & modulation, it was also only mono & no RDS.
I managed to get 5SE 90.5 from Hotham this morning, no RDS though. Managed to confirm 3RPP (RDS). Also had 3MDR 97.1.
Temperature when I went out was a nice 2C.
Yes very scary watching that happen. I get a similar thing and not just for storms; strong westerlies are bad. You are totally helpless, just waiting for the wind to subside.
I think 89.9 Pulse FM might also be off-air? Or maybe it’s just my bad reception.
I’m not getting 89.9 here either… dead as a doornail… seems to have lost a … ahem… pulse
This gave me a good opportunity to do some DXing on 89.9 FM (via all of the currently-active TVCL TEF servers). On the TVCL South TEF, I managed to pick up ABC Riverina on 89.9 FM, which is normally cancelled out by Pulse FM. No RDS though due to it being very weak.
Very few regional ABCs run RDS anyway.
Pretty sure the Riverina ones don’t.
Most of the areas around Kurrajong, Kurrajong Heights have no power, the DTV site at Kurrajong has been on generator since about 7:30pm last night with no end in sight at the moment, all the mobile phone sites up on the hill at/near the DTV site are getting generators connected up now, but as of just after lunchtime today they’d all run out of battery power & were off line, so 89.9 Pulse will be off air until the power comes back assuming they haven’t suffered any damage themselves.
Currently receiving Port Moresby. Very patching but fairly confident based on frequencies 90.7, 93.1, 95.5.
Edit NBC Radio Ident received.
Originally thought 95.5 TAB Bundaberg had gone to back up tape
Edit 92.3 strength
Noice!
So how many countries are you up to now with FM reception?
PNG, New Cal, NZ, any others? Vanuatu or Fiji yet?
Yes - those plus West Papua received one year as well.
These were the stations that had a good signal strength.

Congrats on Pot Mosbi. I’ll probably be long gone after a visit to the haus sik (hospital) before I receive it here.
I tried making a video of the PNG reception. It gives a good idea of what conditions were like. They did not last for long but each station received was over the top of a station usually received.
This is what the weather was like just a few suburbs away in Brisbane associated with the PNG reception yesterday - supercells hit a narrow band of suburbs but is was sunny for me. I hope it doesn’t take that sort of atmospheric condition in future.
A Friday funny I picked up while testing my TEF server after an update. It looks like SONFM88 isn’t using digital files to play back their gospel programming. This sounds just like a stuck groove on a record
It will be interesting to hear once it cuts over to Dancewave whether it repeats the same couple seconds of audio.
Someone please send this to a DJ and they can mash it up into a mixtape LOL! This is just way too funny!
