So I’ve just checked again and it’s definitely Phillip Adams now on 101.9, so must be RN. But it also must be AEDT RN, as Phillip hasn’t started here yet in Queensland. Weird…
Also, got a confirmed ID of 105.9 2CBD Glen Innes, which is a first for me here. So that and (presumably) Armidale as first time catches in this location are a good result.
I can just manage to receive that signal as it is swamped by Hit Fraser Coast.
It is in parallel with RN stations in NSW, however, the same program is on 2NWR the local radio frequency from Mt Dowe 99.1 The Mt Dowe RN station 100.7 has the same program. Armidale local radio is also 2NWR.
Also got ABCFM Armidale wiping out MMM Fraser Coast. Noted tonight Sky 107.5 Glen Innes.
New loggings at Boambee Headland this morning.
91.1 Canberra
91.9 Canberra
93.1 Mudgee (weak)
100.9 Bega (over Lismore which is usually dominant)
101.5 Canberra with RDS
103.5 Batemans Bay
104.3 Orange strong
104.7 Canberra (antenna gymnastics for that one under Grafton, brief RDS)
107.5 Orange
As predicted last night Dubbo is in this morning, brief at times with 92.7 Zoo FM over 1ART Canberra.
Also something behind Eagle FM 93.5 at times, suspect Dubbo, but too weak atm.
Coota there on 88.3 2ABCFM & 91.5.
Earlier had something on 93.1, but faded away too quickly.
The 200W low powered Bathurst outlets such as 98.3 2PNN are also there at times.
Any news on the disappearance of 88.3 WSFM? Has been MIA for many days now.
Aha, that would explain it - RN programming on 2NWR. Thanks for clarifying that
Still tropo in this morning: Armidale, Tenterfield (Rebel 93.7 is beating ABCFM Gympie right now), Mt Dowe (RN Mt Dowe is fighting it out with Hit Toowoomba), Mt Moombil, Wide Bay ABCs and Middle Brother still all in at good levels.
Noted FM BCB signals on every odd numbered decimal frequency this morning exceptions were: 89.5, 103.1 & 103.3MHz (103.2 Hope FM usually blocks DX on the shoulder frequencies).
Samples are:
91.5 2PNN Cootamundra & 2JJJ Grafton, 91.7 2PNN Tamworth, 91.9 2PNN Orange & 1WAY Canberra.
I am simply stunned right now. The Hepburn map above shows the duct from Canberra all the way to New Caledonia. Also had 99.0 and weak 89.0, but didn’t video those. Hard to video on the phone whilst holding the TEF! TEF is at max brightness as well.
Also had 103.5 Armidale strong, 91.3 2MAX Narrabri at local strength, 100.7 Port Macquarie in a null of Tuggeranong. Sydney was simply too strong to get Lismore over the top unfortunately. All of this was from a high hill overlooking Lake George just west of Bungendore. Nothing of the sort from home, just strong Mount Moombil and Middle Brother etc.
A mix of Coastal and inland tropo this morning.
Eagle fm strong enough for full RDS decode. GNFM cutting in again over Triple M CC along Sunnyholt Rd at Kings Park.
2BRW over 2RSR near the M7 on Sunnyholt Rd at Acacia Gardens
Quite strong Kempsey / Grafton from Mt Moombil. 91.5 Triple J the strongest.
97.9 alternating between Classic fm Mt Moombil and RN Goulburn.
SWS outlets from Mt Ulandra were in up to moderate strength earlier this morning.
Middle Brother up to moderate strength earlier this morning.
Weak Mt Dowe Classic fm on Car radio.
Weak Triple J Tamworth on the car radio.
Weak News Radio Brown Mt cutting in over East Side Radio.
Canberra has been weak at best this morning with 102.3 alternating between Classic Canberra and Triple J CWS. 98.3 2XXFm the most consistent.
Basically the strongest and most consistent signals have been Triple J from Mt Moombil and Eagle fm Goulburn.
Looking forward to tonight and tomorrow morning when Canberra will be even stronger if Hepburn is correct.
What a Summer for Tropo so far, some SpE’s now will be the icing on the cake!!!
Reception for the south is down slightly and now Wide Bay is picking up Breeze receivable from both Childers and Tenterfield. NOW and GGG were at good levels for a while.
As recently mentioned 88.3 WSFM has been off for a while.
Now as of late morning 99.1 WSFM is off air.
I do recall @RFBurns mentioning ARN were looking at RDS
for 88.3 & 99.1. Maybe something more major happening at both
sites. New TXers?
Meanwhile on 99.1 I do believe I’m hearing very weak 2NWR Mt.Dowe.
Nice for these works to coincide with our FM DX season
Some improved signal levels late morning from Orange.
91.9, 94.7 & RDS on 105.1, 105.9, 106.7 & 107.5MHz levels varying.
I’m not sure why WSFM 88.3 has been off air for a while, no works there as far as I know, techs are too busy building the new North Sydney Studios.
As for WSFM 99.1 at Winmalee, there’s a planned mains outage there today, it’ll be off until later this afternoon, should be back on around 2-3pm. DAB at this site is out too, so is DAB Mt Badgally as it’s feed microwave link hops at the Winmalee site from Artarmon.
It is almost solar noon and inland Tropo is still hanging around.
Eagle fm now to weak noisy stereo. / mono
102.3 is still switching between Classic fm Canberra and JJJ CWS. Weak
91.5 very weak News Radio SWS
102.7 Classic CT moderate strength and 105.9 Hit Orange just above the noise floor.
When tropo is very strong it can hang around all day. I remember one case back about 10-15 years ago where Middle Brother was strong all day., I was living at Oatley then which is much more coastal than where I am now.
Tonight and tomorrow morning looking great again for tropo right up and down the coast, and possibly stronger Canberra fm into Sydney / Newcastle.
After tomorrow things die down for a while when the next heat wave hits.
@dxnerd do you thing Norfolk Island is a possibility?
Don’t know. And won’t now as WSFM returned to 99.1 at 1pm.
Did briefly hear the mystery signal on 99.0 with the TEF6686 outside.
But all too weak & brief.
