Wide ranging tropo this morning stretching from Wollongong to Gympie and inland to Toowoomba. Surprisingly, I had 89.7 The Breeze from Banana in this morning at Boambee Headland.
Coffs FMs are also in here. Yet another time that I wish your 2BBB wasnāt on frequencies already occupied in this part of the world
Sill have Mackay on 98.7 from the north co-channelling.
And are also currently being received in the opposite direction into the NSW Southern Highlands.
Also Taree and Port Macquarie Commercials.
106.7 Kempsey mixing with Ulladulla
Also Bega Commercials in the opposite direction
Yes - currently tuned to Breeze 102.5 with better reception than 92.1. RDS is BreezeWB.
Also note that 4GY is still a blank carrier.
This is probably the most intense tropo that I have seen forecast off the Central Coast for quite some time. This is for Friday.
Sunday looks like the best chance for NZ Tropo into Sydney.
Things have died down a bit but thereās still some enhancement about.
Highlights this morning were RDS reception of FM 104.7 Grafton and (almost) 2GF, RDS couldnāt decode on the latter due to Triple J Sunshine Coast being there behind it. Still, first time reception of 2GF for me.
I had something earlier on 105.1 that I thought might be a āreligious-liteā type station, but canāt locate something that would match. Unless it was Kempsey and I just didnāt pick the music right? Also had what sounded like an ABC outlet on 104.3 but again couldnāt match it to anything, unless it was Canobolas coming from a long way off?
105.1 would be Rhema Wide Bay. I had PNN 104.3 clearly from Mackay.
I didnāt even think of Mackay as Iāve never heard that far north here before (via tropo anyway), but youāre probably right there. I heard Steve Cannane being interviewed by a presenter of some sort, so I assumed RN or Local, but PNN would be it.
Back home now.
I did a quick DX in the car when I left Port Macquarie and there were stations from the Gold Coast to Wollongong, with Wave FM and i98 being received. 95.7 was News Radio GC whereeas 97.3 and 98.9 were Wollongong ABCs.
88.3 WSFM Camden is off air ATM.
Noted 93.5 Eagle FM & 2BS 95.1 @ near Penshurst train station late this morning
Also, 89.7, 99.3 and 100.1 from Brown Mountain were steady and strong into Beacon Hill Coffs late this morning. Itās the strongest Iāve ever had it there.
Was driving to work this morning and was getting Hit Warrick and Hit Dalby coming into Toowoomba just as strong as the local Hit TX.
Also of note was 2ZZZ and ABC Mount Goonan Wide Bay fighting each other on 100.9.
There was also some issues with the local small Off-Air RX UHF DTV transmitter this morning, so the enhancement must have been extending quite high up in frequency this morning
Hit Dalby was coming into Brisbane as well.
Last night some of the SFN on UHF seemed to be affected form the Sunshine Coast area for me and I was getting enhanced UHF signals from Rockhampton plus Band III from Wide Bay.
Things are starting to get really interesting or should I say the Tropo is really heating up!!!
Some first time catches on the car radio around Stanhope Gardens
105.1 Hit Kempsey Translator, actually stronger than Hit 102.3 Port Macquarie
91.5 Triple J Kempsey Grafton from Mt Moombil.
105.5 Hit Coffs and 106.3 Triple M Coffs Harbour, weak, first time catches
88.9 2RE Taree
92.7 Sky Sports Port Macquarie
97.9 Classic Kempsey Grafton
101.5 Great Lakes fn
All Muddle Brother outlets are quite strong.
Hit 105.1 Kempsey is certainly the stand out for me so far tonight.
Wide Bay and Rockhampton/Gladstone/Yeppoon booming in again tonight.
Iāve never heard these. Well done!
Quite likely 2MRR 92.3 is detectable as well.
Iām receiving that too. Thanks for the heads up on that, might have mistaken it for Triple M Orange, as itās quite weak here but program // with 2DAY.
Around 6:30pm, both Star Mackay and Hit Fraser Coast appearing at RDS strength on radio list in cat in Brisbane and switching between each other on air.
103.3 JJJ in Brisbane too.
92.3 Kix River Heads also clear in Bris at the time.
Sunshine Coast Bald Knob FMs much better reception than usual.
Zinc 96 overpowering usually dominant JJJ Mt Nardi.
2MRR was receivable on the car radio too.
On the home dx setup Middle Brother fm is up to local strength at times. When the strength of Middle Brother fm peaks, the C/N on ABC tv 12 drops. ABC from Gore Hill is the weakest of the Sydneyās for me so the vertical polarity Middle Brother tv on underneath causing some CCI.
Nice Signal on 100.7 and 102.3 from Port Macquarie. Middle Brother strong, 105.1 Kempsey also received.
No Mt Moombil here in Bowral. 105.5 and 106.3 was just Canberra. 106.7 Kempsey was blocked by stronger than usual 2ST Ulladulla.
