AM and FM DX

I thought it would start early today.
NZ FM Es in.
90.0 & 94.0MHz Invercargill

BTW 89.3 2GLF are having some audio dropout problems, might be advantageous to check between 89.2 & 89.4 with some NZ Es DX about.
All Es weak atm though. Could change over next hour/s or so. :man_shrugging:

Getting a station called “The Hits” on 93.1 here in Bowral.
Also got Christchurch on 88.9, 89.7, 90.5 and 91.3 (In a Null of Campbelltown)

That would be Greymouth :+1:, I thought I also had something on 91.5, which is also Greymouth.
There’s also very weak & sporadic signals from regions of Dunedin & Nelson about at the moment.

UPDATE: Signals are getting stronger & more stations appearing.

In the car in Kellyville and currently getting Adelaide fm,

Nova 919 and Fresh fm Adelaide.
Fresh fm the strongest with Zoo fm underneath.

Something also on 107.5 playing dance music.

Hearing a couple of stations fading in/out on this frequency.
One was definitely a community station with an older male announcer.

Also been getting something on 92.7 for a while too weak to ID properly, but was mono & talk. Wondering if it could have been 4ABCRN Bowen?

Triple J Townsville now in on 102.3.

What is with 11am, SpE has started most days around this time when there has been skip.

Add 98.3 Kool fm Innsifail to the list.

11:36 am some extras

105.9 Classic Cairns
107.5 Triple J Cairns

Both first time catches.

Same here, but pretty much all gone now,.

One thing I have noticed with some skip openings Adelaide is often the first to be received before moving north to tropical QLD.

Sometimes it can be just a standalone event NZ or Hobart. But the times I have had SA it has progressed to Tropical QLD.

Yesterdays Skip event was Strong Tropical QLD to NZ, to weak fleeting Tropical QLD late last night.

Todays event was NZ for some to Tropical QLD.
For me it was SA to Townsville, Cairns and Innisfail, unfortunately I missed NZ.
The tropical QLD did not go further south than Townsville so no Mackay.

I know SpE is sporadic but I am noticing some patterns here with some events, what are peoples thoughts?

Lastly has any one outside of the Hawkesbury coverage area had SpE from Norfolk Island, or is it close for single hop E’s?

After yesterday, anything was going to be a let down, ATM CQ inc Gladstone plus south to Mt Canobolas and Middle Brother troppo.

A log yesterday was hard to keep - this is what I noted during the first opening (the secondwas even harder and features NZ and Tassie). 8SAT = Flow FM. The low power Wilcannia relay of 2WEB was notable for me. It was also interesting that the strength of the signal could overcome locals like Logan FM.

Any sign of 88.9 Braidwood? I suppose with so much stuff coming in, hard to tell. I am doing QSL cards for anyone that picks us up via DX (have sent one to @tamago_otoko )

I don’t think so, not at the ideal distance for this opening. But the one later that day, I’ll have to check.

Lot of these maps looking promising this week.

It looks very coastal with most of the activity off the coast.

I don’t know how far it will penetrate inland, I am about 40Km inland.

Does my pre 2RE catch with BWD FM RDS count?

Have you got a video or photo? I will send a QSL for confirmed reception.

The three down the bottom have the BWD FM RDS capture… used a Gallery screenshot so you can see the location tag as DX evidence

Some more SpE, 89.7 Triple J Warranmbool over 2RES and 90.3 Bendigo. Quite weak, this is the shortest distance SpE I have had to date.

Edit
91.7 News Radio Western Victoria strongest of the Vic skip.
