That’s correct.
96.1 was originally allocated for 2GN’s Braidwood translator (Eagle FM’s was allocated 95.3), going as far back as 1999. That of course changed when the LAP variations for the AM-FM conversions of 2GN, 2XL & 2EC occurred, in which 96.1 was then reallocated to 2XL (now XLFM), with 2GN’s Braidwood translator being reallocated to 95.3 & Eagle FM’s translator reallocated to 93.1.

2XL and Snow are fairly well received in Braidwood so it was the correct decision to move the repeater from 96.1.

Coincidence: Listening to 864am Avon valley triple m while listening to 94.5fm Perth and noticed two Paul Kelly different songs on the two stations firstly on 864 with before too long and then straight after to her door by Paul Kelly on 94.5 is this a southern cross Austereo algorithm to play Paul Kelly

I’m receving Power FM 98.1 Muswellbrook in Maitland at 10:14pm.
10:18pm signal is now staticy

I would’ve thought that receiving Power FM Muswellbrook in Maitland would be permanent reception. 
It is nearly 80km from Power FM’s TX site at Mt Arthur to Maitland, with its ERP being 10kW in that direction.

Static could be caused by another radio station underneath?
Normally Power FM is quite clear there.
98.1 is problematic here in Newcastle as its also used by ABC News Radio at Gosford.

if you’re running the FM receiver near a computer or modem etc, this will cause a lot of interference & cause a ‘jamming’ of the FM signal. Try moving the receiver further away from such devices. In the case of DXing, turning off such devices is imperative to remove as much interference (QRM) & noise as possible.

Just went out to the park with the loop (1130 LT). Results were very good with clear reception from 5AN/5RN, 4QR/4RN, 3LO/3RN and a bit of Hobart on 585 and 936. Also had both 5CK and 2HC on 639 and 2GL on 819.
A bit of skywave assistance on the high end with 3KND and 2QN quite audible.

Gotta love winter.
On a cloudy day in August, I was in Brisbane, collected a car to drive and found 1557 2RE booming in at 1:15pm.

For me 1566 3NE can be received at noon in mid winter at my location in NW Sydney.
It is very weak just above the noise floor.

There is no skywave at play on the lower frequencies though, even in mid winter. The signals are stable. There was a definite skywave fading pattern on my 3NE signal.

Definitely seems to get out better to the north than to the south.
It’s very difficult to receive in the daytime in Newcastle.
I guess that’s why the repeaters in Forster and Gloucester are needed.
