Boy oh boy wowee! Fremantle Dockers have suffered the heaviest defeat in their club history being demolished by 133 points to the Geelong Cats in GMHBA Stadium. I have to say that this was one of the most disgusting matches that I have seen from Fremantle Dockers. Fremantle failed to fire during the final three quarters. This type of match was a terrible afternoon. since 2016, the Dockers have won 20 out of 65 matches.

Geelong kicked 23 goals in a row and were up 147 to 5 after quarter time. Incredible.

They deserve to play finals. Could be the team that gives the other top 8 a run for their money.

According to the AFL website, Geelong broke the previous AFL record of 16 unanswered goals held by Essendon in its 2011 drubbing of Gold Coast.

WOW! Close games tonight for Gold Coast v Brisbane Lions and St Kilda v Hawthorn. First Hawthorn hung on to win by 4 points in a nailbiter at Etihad and Brisbane edged a win over the Gold Coast Suns at Metricon. Brisbane have won 5 games so far this year. Next week Brisbane play West Coast and Eagles will be strong faves for the match. An upset win for Lions next week?

St Kilda really took it on Hawthorn after quarter time and did not give their opponent an inch. It was Hawthorn’s early goals in the third term and their experience in tight matches that proved the difference. Hawthorn would have been third on the AFL ladder tonight if they won by 20 points or more, but they have to settle for fourth spot.

Great to see a FTA game from Optus Stadium, Perth. Looks fantastic, good crowd for what is a crucial game, bathed in sun today.

Don’t care who wins, though I do think it’d be wonderful for Dees to make their first finals appearance in over a decade, so an upset win would be a huge help today.

BT and Jason Bennett calling the match, Jimmy Bartel doing expert comments and assuming Peter Bell doing boundary.

You’re kidding? They sound identical then!

Unfortunately not FTA for Perth viewers ironically, An AFL LIVE Pass comes in handy for games like this.

What? Again, you’re joking. Massive West Coast game!

A very significant game for the Eagles, but they are playing a bit rusty, Melbourne has really brought the pressure early which is no surprise, exciting game so far!

Eagles just kicked three straight over 10min, 2pts in it! Melbourne had better not wilter in the ‘heat’

Edit

WOW! Melbourne Demons are going into September with a 17 point win over the West Coast Eagles! The Melbourne Demons are the sixth interstate team to win at Optus Stadium in front of 55824 spectators. 55824 is a very strong crowd for Melbourne FC. Can Melbourne FC be flag contenders for 2018? Time will tell.

No. Next question.

On the basis of a single(?) win today against all sides in this years Top 8, hell no - they are in the Top 8 thanks to what could be considered a pretty easy draw and to my mind are arguably the weakest side in the 8

Well, Port Adelaide are gone. Arguably worst finish to a year after expected to make finals

North Melbourne are also gone after losing to the Crows by nine points at Adelaide Oval tonight.

Last time Melbourne Demons made Final

  • iPod touch wasn’t invented.
  • YouTube videos was in poor quality.
  • Channel Nine dropped its ‘famous dots’. The Nine Network launched new shows but most shows have suffered low ratings. During that year, Nine relaunched its warehouse ident, which was a horrible look. Nine just won the ratings year by a fraction over Channel 7 in terms of audience shares. Seven won the number of weeks over Nine.
  • Australia’s population was 20.7 million.
  • Nine/TEN had the AFL Rights for the final year in the agreement deal.
  • Big Brother was back on Channel 10.
It was nearly 4400 days since Melbourne Demons have played in a final.
