And they did it twice as well - who knew the French were big fans of the Lions .

I feel for Essendon supporters this has basically drawn a line through them for the 8. With games against Fremantle, Gold Coast, Sydney and Brisbane they will be lucky to win 1 more game. They simply had to win against st Kilda.

Fun fact:

Yesterday marked 27 years since Robert Walls last coached an AFL Match ever, Richmond vs Adelaide at Football Park in which the Tigers got smashed.

22 years ago today, Johnathan Brown tooked the MOY for 2002 for Brisbane (Team presently playing atm) against Hawthorn at the MCG. At the same time across the Nullarbor, another team that is playing tonight in West Coast, too good for Collingwood by 58 points.

Fremantle have won the Western Derby 59 after defeating the West Coast Eagles by 35 points in front of a record 56,536 at Optus stadium. The eagles started off very well and led comfortably at half time. During the second half, the Eagles faded and were simply outplayed by Freo.

Do you think the AFL is getting scared there might only be 2 MCG games during the first 3 weeks of finals? It’s shaping up that there might be only a few.

Not great but some extenuating circumstances last night. Cold and wet all day, fucking freezing by 6pm, hail around the place, several train services replaced with busses and car parking closed.

For a change, it was my kids who wanted to go but given the challenges of getting there we stayed home.

The dick measuring contest that seems to have arisen since covid over crowds on social media is really getting quite tiresome. Not every MCG match will attract 50k plus.

This year’s grand final will start at 2.30pm AEST, the AFL Commission confirmed today.

We know what time it starts ! But it seems these idiots at these newspapers don’t :joy:.

The AFL Commission did say that the start time of the GF is under review every year, so eventually there could be a twilight or a night grand final in Melbourne.

Jimmy Bartel has decided to step down from the @GWSGIANTS board as footy director. He will finish at the end of the season.

From late 2018-2024 he was a critical voice in list management, coaching decisions & football department restructuring.

A great stint for one of the AFL’s sharpest footy minds. He’s keen to explore other roles.
