I agree that they are the most in danger.
North Melbourne’s TV ratings in isolation, even though that’s impossible to work out, would be less than GWS in Sydney and Gold Coast in Brisbane, certainly adding Fox Footy and regional (and definitely Swans and Lions respectively and without a doubt all the Sa and Wa teams). That’s how irrelevant they are in Melbourne now. Get no crowds, low membership, no significant following anymore and TV ratings terrible - made worse by a 100pt blow-out from the get go - all this indicative by just 5 figures nationally for Foxtel and barely 6 in Melbourne on FTA.
they need to take a serious look at the rules now there will be a Tasmanian team.
Will they need to change the father / son rule to the father / son / cousin rule?
what happens if one head gets a concussion but the other is fine?
it raises so many variables now
They could run out to this banger
And the mother / son, mother / daughter, father / daughter, father /daughter/ wife, etc…rule for the AFLW side that will follow
The Tasmanian Side must have a Familliar Club Song, Unlike the Crappy Suns of the Gold Coast Sky, I Reckon to the tune of America The Beautiful.
At the very least, it needs to be better than the Giants song. The only big big sound from the west of the town should be me farting, burping and telling off Giants fans for jumping ship from the Swans.
A press conference for a new Tasmanian AFL team has been called for this afternoon.
I’m sorry what ?
Officially being announced now. Tassie confirmed to be the 19th team
I was waiting for someone to post that clip from Utopia.
Good to see a Tasmanian team join the AFL. To join in 2028.
Although there have been games played in Tasmania before, having the random game played there is too limited.
But with the 19 teams (and a bye) situation, its a tricky situation. 20 teams is too many. Having teams fold is hard. GWS wont be going anywhere anytime soon, even if noone is supporting them.
Merge Gold Coast with North Melbourne and relocate them north. They’ll be called the North Australian Kangaroos and play out of Darwin and Townsville
I’d play them out of Cairns instead of Townsville. They have a more suitable venue for AFL games and a more ex pat Victorian fan base there to support. Townsville is staunch Cowboys territory.
What about Ayr, near Townsville?

As a new Tasmanian - I’m so happy to finally see the Tasmania Turbo Chooks in the AFL.
If only Chickenfeed was still going…perfect sponsorship.
Red Rooster or KFC might still be interested!
Tommy “Turbo” Trbojevic from Manly could be a marquee cross code signing for them! (as the AFL did with Hunt and Folau when the Suns and Giants joined). He’s good under the high balls too.
Yeah, but it’s not as iconic as Chickenfeed is to Tasmania.
Also, Turbo has the physical resilience of a biscuit.
