UPDATE:
Have been baying for a change for the past month. It is clear his peak has well and truly passed. The club needs someone new to try to reinvigorate the team and their performances.
Yes, heâs been there for 9 seasons now, only the very best coaches are able to stay at the same club for longer.
Yes I agree. After 9 seasons if you canât get a premiership then its time to move on. Probably will be the same issue Ken Hinkley faces later this season - especially if Port are out of finals contention.
They have had similar trajectories in recent years too, Top 4 and looking like title contenders but have both fallen away since.
I guess at least GWS have made a GF under Leon Cameron.
Heâs been marking time all season - itâs been clear that for whatever reason he wasnât going to get another contract
Itâs a bit of a shame that his tenure at the Giants has ended this way - heâs been a big factor in their performance (especially compared to other expansion teams), while they havenât had the success people would have liked by all accounts Cameron has had a significant impact on the club and how they operate
Do you mean Gold Coast. Because most expansion clubs have had success quite quickly. West coast (6 years), Adelaide (7 years), port Adelaide (7 years).
Yes he means Gold Coast.
Only in traditional AFL states. It took a lot longer for the Swans and Bears/Lions to be successful.
Would you class the swans and lions as expansions though? Or relocations?
Bears definately
Oh, I interpreted âexpansionâ as expansion into a new market not already occupied by a VFL/AFL team. As opposed to a brand new team.
Leon Cameronâs last match as GWS coach ended in a 30-point loss to Carlton this afternoon.
Earlier, Gold Coast beat Fremantle by 36 points in the rain. The Dockers kicked four goals for the match, and were held goalless in the second and third quarters.
Suns are finals bound
They are in contention. But finals bound means they are cemented in the 8 - which they are not. Itâs losses to teams like GWS that will hurt them. The lucky thing is most games the Suns have played have been against teams in the top 6. They have only played 2 teams below 6th. And they have played all top 6 teams. So they really are in contention.
West Coast Eagles have gone down, losing to Melbourne Demons by 74 points at Optus Stadium. I saw some fans leaving the match at Optus Stadium. The match was terrible and Eagles were completely outplayed by a top side. West Coast havenât won at Optus Stadium since Round 19 last year. Why is it so hard for Eagles to win at home?
My guy have you been following? They are shit and also have 20ish AFL players available.
Honestly impressive that it wasnât by more!
Itâs weird for people to be leaving early at a West Coast game - what did you turn up expecting?
