Is the Western Derby on now being played behind-closed-doors?

Today’s match between Fremantle and West Coast was initially scheduled to be held at Fremantle Oval, but was moved to Optus Stadium once the AFL found out that only 600 fans could go to the match under WA’s level two COVID restrictions.

Meanwhile Seven News’ Tom Browne reports that AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan has floated a radical plan to add a round to the home and away fixture, by scrapping one week of practice matches. It would likely bring the season to 24 rounds and mean each team plays 23 matches.
