It would have been much the same reaction at Port if the result had gone the other way. Not a game either side wanted to lose, especially not as badly as Carlton did.
Still, good job Port. Keep on keeping on just enough to keep Ken in his job

Bit late to the party here⌠Just wanted to add my two cents that last nightâs result made me so happy!
I need to know. What is greater your love for Essendon or your hate for Carlton :-
Demolition of the old Jack Dyer Stand at Punt Road Oval begins this week.
Carlton and Brisbane Lions announced today that the best on ground in matches involving both teams would now receive the Robert Walls Medal. The inaugural medal will be presented in the Round 18 clash at Marvel Stadium on July 10.
West Coast veteran Dom Sheed, who kicked the winning goal in the 2018 Grand Final against Collingwood, announced his retirement today. His 2025 season was cut short, after suffering a torn ACL in his right knee at a pre-season session in February.
Former Richmond club president Ian Wilson (father of Caroline Wilson) has passed away at 91.
The AFL have nfk how to schedule, and the past few weeks (including this week) just prove it
Changes Iâd make to the fixture to improve it:
Thursday 7.10pm
Friday 7.40pm (7.10pm and 9.10pm if WA game for Double Header)
Saturday 1.10pm, 2x 4.10pm, 7.40pm
Sunday 12.10pm, 3.10pm, (6.10pm for WA Sunday game, 7.10pm/7.40pm for PH eve game)
Monday/PH 3.10pm
Each Perth Team would need to play ~3-4x Friday and ~3-4x Sunday home games each. Only Sundays during daylight saving period due to 3hr difference. The remainder being Saturday nights during the bye rounds and on non-WA PH weekends.
So a mid-season tournament, where they potentially play for a spot in the finals, even though whoever would win would likely make the finals anyway, and they somehow could get up to 5x the amount of cash they get would get in a Grand Final, therefore lowering the value of the Grand Final, all to engage fans of lower performing teams whose teams would probably perform the same, therefore providing no incentive for them to increase their engagement?
This, TBH, is probably one of the most pointless things the AFL has come up with in recent years.
AFLX
At least AFLX was intended to be a format that could be used overseas in countries where they donât have adequate oval shaped venues - this proposal literally adds nothing to the game except maybe a few extra dollars into the pockets of executives.
No AFLX was a complete waste of time
Well still this new proposal literally adds nothing.
So, kind of a mix between AFLX and the Wizard Cup (or whatever you preferred to call the old preseason cup).
The top teams will just rest their best players - they wonât want to risk injuries for the real season. So enjoy watching Collingwoodâs VFL side play for a month while the Daicoses and co have a rest.
Utter thought bubble. Normally youâd be happy to laugh it off as nothing more, but then again, this is the AFL weâre talking about hereâŚ
why not just do a state of origin tournament for mid-season?
i know its copying NRL, but would be more interesting
I can see the future.
Sydney wins the mid-season tournament.
Wildcard finals entry.
Out first week of finals.
Rinse, repeat.
Makes Grand Final.
Doesnât turn up, gets thrashed by 60 points.
Didnât they try that and it bombed horrifically?
too soon
