It was also reported on The Age and Herald Sun this evening.
Never knew that was a Hawthorn home ground. Itâs a fair way from Hawthorn (about 20 km).
Brisbane have spoiled Patrick Dangerfieldâs 350th game celebrations, beating Geelong by 41 points tonight. It was the Lionsâ first win at Kardinia Park in 22 years.
It became Hawthorns home ground in the 70s. Before that, they were based in Hawthorn.

Unfortunately the West Coast Eagles were beaten by the Hawks!
The Hawks were always historically based at Glenferrie Oval in Hawthorn, although the tiny ground being landlocked meant it wasnât a suitable venue (nor base) as the league and the club grew.
Once Waverley was decommissioned as an AFL venue, the Hawks saw the sense in moving out that way, as they have a very strong supporter base in the south eastern suburbs. Getting the venue for $1 from the AFL didnât hurt either.
Theyâre now moving out to Dingley which is further out again, and quite a way from the city where they now play their home games. St Kilda tried something similar moving to Seaford a decade or so ago, and it backfired for them, so itâll be interesting to see how it goes for the Hawks.
Thatâs what i thought too. Much closer to home for them.
Geelong played shit last night. Congrats to Dangerfield on 350th. They just couldnât match Brisbane who just had it all going for em.
The AFL this morning confirmed it had bought Waverley Park from Hawthorn for an undisclosed sum.

The Suns are requesting Fox Footy covers the fine after it was aired during programming last night@7NewsMelbourne @7AFL
The footage wasnât on the initial broadcast of the match, but was aired on Monday night when Hardwick joined AFL360.
The Suns believe they shouldnât have to pay the fine given it wasnât on the coverage of the game.
Asked about the incident, Hardwick admitted he was shocked by the umpiring decision, but was even more shocked when Fox Footy revealed his reaction.
He should not have to pay that, Fox should
On Wednesday, ABC News published comments from the Jewish Council of Australia, which condemned one of Tredreaâs Instagram posts, saying it promotes âfar-right antisemitic conspiracy theoriesâ and Holocaust denial.
In a video posted on Tredreaâs Instagram account, one of his podcast guests, AJ Roberts, makes statements about Israel, which he says is a âfake stateâ that was behind the creation of terror group ISIS.
Tredrea responded later on Wednesday in a social media post, defending his position.
âI unequivocally condemn war and genocide, and seek only to share other perspectives of what has been a very one-way reported narrative in the mainstream media,â he wrote on Instagram.
âI am not in any way, shape, or form, an antisemite, and consider it defamatory for anyone to accuse me as such.â
Geez, this and the SovCit stuff, the sooner Port find a way to get rid of him from the board the better.
But itâs got to be sad to see one of your champs decline so publicly like thisâŚ
As a port member I did not vote for him. I am a bit concerned over the sovereign citizens claims and not recognising Australian dollars or currency yet accepts a pay cheque. However, he is doing a good job on the board according to the club and for me that is the main thing and the fans have voted for him. Removing he diminishes the process of it being a fans club.
Just donât leave him in charge of treasury
The fans being conspiracy theorists?
Well the process of electing a board member by fans and then removing that board member less than a year in isnât exactly a good look. Especially when those fans feel they arenât being listened too.
Vandals have hit Carltonâs Ikon Park with graffiti in the wake of Thursday nightâs disappointing 50-point loss to Port Adelaide.
The words âSack the boardâ, âKeep Vossâ, âTDK (Tom De Koning) yes or noâ and âSack Austin, Lloydâ (referring to list manager Nick Austin and football manager Brad Lloyd) were emblazoned on the brick walls at the headquarters of the Blues.
I donât know what supporter base is worse. I feel if port had lost something similar would happen at Alberton.
