4 games overlapping this weekend. Is it time to retry the Monday slot.
I donāt understand the frustration around overlapping games. Who has the time to watch nine games from start to finish?
I quite like having the choice - if one game isnāt that good, you can flick across to the other game.

Hawthornās worst first half performance this year, trailing Melbourne 9 to 86 at Launceston.
The Demons posted their highest first quarter score (7.5.47) in over three years.
The Demons extended their lead to 96 points in the third quarter, before the Hawks kicked 12 consecutive goals to reduce the margin to 23 points late in the final quarter. Melbourne then kicked the final two goals to win by 35 points. Itās Melbourneās first game and first win in Launceston while Hawthornās 12-game winning streak at the venue is over.
A career high seven goals from Jake Stringer helped GWS to beat Fremantle by 21 points in Canberra, ending the Dockersā 14-game winning streak.
I donāt think itās inherently a bad thing (and this week seems to be driven by games in Launceston and Canberra), but itās incredibly inconsistent. I donāt get why weāve had two Friday night games again this week - its one of the gameās most premium timeslots and probably deserves for the game to standalone.

It allows Ch7 to show more local teams in their home market and boost ratings overall. Instead of having a VIC v VIC or VIC v SA (example), you can have VIC v VIC and NSW v WA and get more home teams onto the TV.
Itās a bit of A bit of B for me. I wish there was some consistency with the schedule rather than what seems to be a different format every week. Either try to avoid any overlap or line games up at the same time. Having a 1.10pm and 3.20pm game on a Sunday makes no sense. The 1.10pm game should be moved to 12.30pm.
Monday is no good. AFL has made comments about trying to reduce the broadcast time from first bounce to final siren to under 2.5 hours. If they could do that, then you could get away 4 games on a Sat and 3 games on a Sun each week without overlap.
The current 3hr turnaround is too long to avoid overlaps. The AFL also makes strange choices where they could remove overlaps quite easily (see my example above about Sundays)
There was a stat on this and a lot of AFL fans would love the opportunity to watch each game. There are weekends where I would love to watch all 9 games. And why wouldnāt the AFL want to give the fans that opportunity when they can?
Why not? For crowds? They make more money from the broadcast anyway. Iād love to watch a Monday night game.
If the NRLās attempt at Monday Night Football is any example, they put two of the shittiest teams on MNF, and usually the same turns out to be shit as well. I can see the AFL doing the same.

Carlton won their seventh game in a row under Josh Fraser, holding off a late challenge from Richmond to win by two points at the MCG.
Earlier, Collingwood beat Gold Coast by six points in a feisty match at Carrara. Brayden Maynard could be under match review officerās scrutiny after appearing to push umpire Nick Brown out of the way, while charging towards Ben Long, just after the half time siren.

This winning from Port Adelaide is making me nervous. Donāt want to finish outside the bottom five.

St Kilda led from start to finish to thrash Essendon by 67 points this afternoon, and are now one game outside of top 10. Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera and Brad Hill both had more than 40 disposals and kicked one goal.

Are you? They are just middle of the road making up numbers. Finishing lower this season would fast track a rebuild. Iād almost be disappointed if I was a Collingwood fan.

Very sad indeed, puts it into perspective that the sport can be dangerous. I thought of Phillip Hughes when reading this story. Two different sports but a freak accident like this one just puts things into perspective.
At the end of the day itās just a game. Wonder whatās going to happen now with the regards to safety of the game being played on ovals with cricket pitches. With Worksafe investigating from what I have read, there will probably a few more reccomendations.
