I’m pleased Seven remain as the FTA partner as opposed to Ten, though I wouldn’t have minded seeing Nine get a go.
It’s interesting that there’s some speculation that Gillon McLachlan told Kerry Stokes to “up the ante” in regards to Seven’s bid.

It’s called a tender process…. they can often take months to finalise. But it was very clear to all networks that final bids were to be made by Monday.
Realistically, if Paramount were to obtain these rights… they would’ve had to put in an offer closer to 700m (per year) for Seven / Foxtel to back away. This was always going to be the case from the start.
A smarter business case for Paramount would be to partner with Seven and share the rights. But they weren’t opting to do this.
Righto. Then 7&Fox pay $701m and because of their corrupt relationship they get it anyway.
It was never anything more then a money grabbing exercise for the AFL.

No… Seven would be the first to walk away. The numbers just wouldn’t stack up for them. And Foxtel would be dead without Seven.

The Kings Birthday date might change, and that might potentially be outside the football season (as Charles’s birthday is in November).
Queens Birthday game was never on the Queen’s birthday per say.
The public holiday is unlikely to change timing.

I know, but June is reasonably close to the Queens Birthday in April, November is further away. Well just have to wait and see what happens.
Not going to happen. Is placed where it is to space out the public holidays (in VIC at least). No reason for it to move from our perspective, and can’t see it being high on Charles’ radar either.

AUS public holidays aren’t spaced out to suit VIC.
In contrast, NSW only has one PH between the Queens Birthday in June and Christmas.
As I said, well just have to wait and see.
Not quite. NSW has Labor Day in October. The Monday after the NRL GF.

On the face of it, it’s another Buzz shot at Nine which is almost as regular as the sun coming up in the morning - but there may be some level of reality in it. The AFR reported yesterday that Mike Sneesby had floated ditching the NRL to try and keep the AFL, true or not that will rankle with many at League HQ
