Games live into local markets remain barring some delayed hold backs. Not sure what that means for each of the interstate teams.

Not sure if this is the best deal for fans. There’s no expansion of free to air.

Foxtel to provide their own commentators. So more games to be called off the TV, furthering to cheapen the actual match day coverage.

Stupid stokes saying they can take the game to new levels. Not sure how when you’re simulcasting the game.

That means the likes of Dwayne Russell and Anthony Hudson could call less matches for AFL Nation radio, especially on Thursday and Friday nights.

Also it will be interesting to see if Fox Footy will have its own graphics for matches produced by Seven in the new deal.

the deal is not all doom and gloom that people thought.

  • 7 will broadcast the same amount of FTA games & 7+
  • Fox will have their own commentary for all games.
  • ONLY SOME Interstate games are delayed (still bad) but not ALL like previously reported
  • Super Saturday for Fox in the first 8 rounds (edited), unless a marquee match happens on a Saturday, which will be broadcasted by 7

Didn’t mention NSW and QLD having every local team live, I think they’re headed for a similar deal that WA and SA have.

This would not have happened under 9 or 10 either. FTA is on life support.

I’m yet to hear a positive aspect of the new rights deal. It virtually the same despite the addition of 7 plus.

Any involvement of foxtel is a failure. And 7 are nothing but a minnow in this rights deal. Not sure how they extract value from it.

Bragging rights which is all they care about :man_shrugging:

“Securing a comprehensive package of digital rights to the AFL for 7plus was our absolute focus,” he said.

SWM will pay a 14 per cent increase on the 2024 rights in 2025. Taking into account indexation over the term of the deal, that represents a 3.6 per cent compound annual growth rate in rights fees across the period.

Perhaps Foxtel/Kayo subscribers are happy with the status quo. I for one am happy to not have to put up with streaming on Stan or Paramount to watch live games.

Foxtel can use its own commentators so subscribers aren’t forced to listen to BT’s inane drivel for marquee games.

according to this article:

The 7Plus AFL hub will include live and replay matches as well as catch-up rights and highlights packages on video on demand — available both live and free on any device at any time.

They’re owned by news corp. not interested in their products.

There’s nothing decent here for the average person. And until we know what was offered by the other networks we do not know this was fair process. There’s a lot of integrity issues with dealing with 7 and foxtel.

Or the AFL weren’t interested in a 5 year deal? They weren’t interested in leaving old boy Kerry - who likely won’t see the end of this rights deal.
