Streaming is the way of the future. AFL still thinks we are in the past. By the time the rights end, most sports around the world will be on streaming.
The NFL has one game a week exclusively on Amazon Prime in the US and MLB signed a deal with Apple. MLS will be on Apple next year. Time for the AFL to move along with the times
First 8 Rounds: All Saturday games on Foxtel
Rounds 9-15: Some Saturday games on Seven but not every week (e.g. Dreamtime game)
Last 8 Rounds: One Saturday game per week is on Seven
Nine papers reporting that it was 10’s bid that saw the record deal break through the $600m a year barrier.
Foxtel and Seven were forced to pay significantly more than anyone imagined due to Channel Ten and Paramount’s eye-watering bid of $6 billion over 10 years.
So did I understand that right, fox still don’t have access to show the GF live on streaming or fox.
So they just paid overs for a deal that requires them to find extra commentators etc.
Um… some say, you only get one ALAN BOND…

Channel 9 are sending TEN a gift basket. They just won the Olympics and any other sport they want now.
Yeah he specifically mentioned Dreamtime and if ANZAC day fell on a Saturday so could be that, but i thought it was more if those things happened in the first 8 rounds.

• Outside Victoria, matches involving the local team will be broadcast live in the local market on the Seven Network and 7Plus digital, except for selected matches on holdbacks.
• At least 30 AFLW home and away games, AFLW finals, and the AFLW grand final will be live and free on the Seven Network and 7Plus digital.
Also mentioned that Fox to get clean feed and have their own graphics and commentators.
Well if that’s to believe, paramount did try and that’s a huge deal. This looks like why it went for 7 years. But it would seem the AFL just wanted the same broadcasters and went back to them for more money. Not sure if the maths equates to that.
Let’s see if paramount can use it for the cricket, Olympics and football world cups.
One thing that needs to be dealt with is the anti-siphoning… foxtel should be excluded from first round negotiations and only be able to sub license listed games and events. That would be much more preferable.
To be honest I think this deal isn’t as bad as first thought. For NSW and QLD I think viewers won’t care much as NRL is bigger in those 2 states so less Saturday games wouldn’t be noticed as much in NSW and QLD games are on 7mate and movies are on the main channel.
