Good to see progress
Two titans of sports broadcasting - and big names - for sure, but speaks to the fact that 10 really have nothing here that would create as much of a ripple as two Americans.
Stephen Quartermain:
Very true though, in the Networkâs current form.
Havenât heard this quoted anywhere else from what Iâve seen, so hoping this isnât the case.
Not quite sure what this achieves to be honest - its not like Paramount are going to bring Romo and Nantz to Australia to commentate AFL and it shows just how shallow Tenâs talent pool is that theyâve got no-one that could front a bid. Its such an empty gesture that they could have had the two kids from Young Sheldon front it and it be just as meaningful.
Iâd say the idea was to showcase the calibre of CBS Sportsâ broadcasting experience in the video pitch, (with Romo and Nantz being part of the brand image), and the same level of quality (in Paramountâs theory) would be reflective of the bid they are offering.
Still of course doesnât change the fact as you stated.
And 10 had a full commentary team on the payroll before the landed the BBLâŚ
90% of Aussies (apart from those who follow the NFL) wouldnât know who these guys are! I donât and I follow NFL (but I usually watch NBC and ESPN NFL matches on Monday and Tuesday mornings our time in season).
This was an internal video - the AFL executives would know who they are. Itâs not for the general public - they wouldnât be involved in coverage.
Honest first reaction until I Googled them:
You donât think Gill would know who that is?
The AFLâs governing body will meet on Monday to begin its final deliberations on how the sportâs next TV broadcast rights deal will be divvied up.
The AFL Commission, which is chaired by Richard Goyder, is expected to thrash out the finer details of the lucrative contract at the meeting, before publicly announcing the successful bidder, or bidders, in the days following the final home and away matches of the regular season, which concludes on Sunday.

Glad we are nearing towards hearing the final result in the coming days, after months of constantly changing speculation.
If Seven and Foxtel retain the Broadcast rights, then congrats to them and hopefully they can take on recent criticisms and address them thoroughly when the next deal begins.
If Paramount/10, or even Nine/Stan manage to snag them, it will be a very interesting to see how they plan to promote and produce the nationâs sport.
@bacco007 will have to get extra server bandwidth on standby for the announcement.
In the (unlikely) event the mysterious Channel 17 placeholder turns out to be for a 10/P+ AFL channel, I donât think thereâs enough server bandwidth in the world to handle that
Does anyone have the inside word? Or are we completely in the dark?
With David Barham becoming Essendonâs new President, will this effect 10âs bid for the AFL?
Honestly hope notâŚ
But in saying that, Iâd imagine they would likely have a group of various people rather than just to rely on a single person.
The discussion on BigFooty sometimes contains extracts from articles, so I may try to quote them here if possible.
Itâs a bit late now, the bids are already in.
The way I see it, no one will know until its publicly announced.
