Len Johns in doing afternoons on both 3SH & 2QN. Same songs same announcer, I certainly do miss variety that the Deni stations use to give us
An interesting observation in Ace Radio markets now. Up until recently, at 6pm the 3AW national news would be relayed on both the FM network and the AM network.
I often found this convenient as 6pm is a good time to catch the news of the day when commuting home and if I couldn’t get 3AW via 693 clearly, then a local Ace Radio station is generally a good option to hear the 3AW news anywhere in regional Victoria.
However, earlier this year it disappeared on the AM station as Sports Day now starts right on 6pm. This is since Sports Day moved from 3AW to SEN, and I presume it’s SEN’s attempt at least in Melbourne to get the early jump on 3AW’s new WWOS program.
This was fine initially as the national news was still heard on the FM station at 6pm. However now with Hughesy, Ed and Erin also starting right on 6pm on the FM station, there is now no national news at 6pm via 3AW relayed on any Ace Radio station.
Sportsday starts in Melbourne at 5.30pm now, which probably adds to your suspicion, and why they likely don’t bother with news at six… but it is quite the gap on the Ace stations, I agree; particularly on the AMs…
Really good video there where they have sync’d up the off-air monitoring recording with the CCTV of the lightning striking.
Wow! That is spooky timing.

Does this mean Triple M Gippsland are now based in Traralgon alongside TRFM and Gold? Previously they had studios on the outskirts of Warragul.
Also I’ve noticed their RDS has changed from ‘MMMGipps’ to ‘Triple M’ as of yesterday. I wonder if that is related to a studio move.
Coast Warrnambool has always been an underwhelming station. Never a high level of market specific content, long lacked local music log.
Commercial radio funded via smell of an oily rag.
Happy birthday to them regardless, they’ve made it nonetheless.
…Mixx FM and 3CS would much rather shine a spotlight on his staff, in the wake of Colac’s first Xtra Insights radio survey in five years.
I Heard a commercial on 3SH "you can now hear Sen Track on *Fm thanks to these sponsors. I’m no longer in the area and I missed the frequency but it sounds like Ace has replaced Kixx Country with SEN Track. SEN Track Bendigo, Swan Hill and Hamilton also now have a separate column in SEN Broadcast Guide
Swan Hill 87.6 was Rete Italia/Niche, Hamilton 88 was Vision Christian Radio.
Bendigo 87.8 was a Seventh-Day Adventist owned station, could have been broadcasting 3ABN Radio if anything, since 87.6 is/was the local religious format Ark FM and the national SDA station “Faith FM” is on 88.0. I seem to recall a mention of some of the 3ABN stations being sold off.
I thought the frequency were off/wrong but since Swan Hill and Hamilton are still listed as having Kixx Country and suddenly they now both have Sen Track my guess it is replacing it and someone mixed up the frequency between locations
Nah, I think you had the frequencies right, there may have been some shuffling of frequencies in the last month or two. KIX Country is still listed as on-air on their web site in Hamilton but has shifted to 87.6 (with ACE listed as the owner of that in the ACMA RRL).
SEN are now listed as owners of the three Bendigo LPONs on 87.8 (plus an 88 to the east of town in Axedale) now. They aren’t of the other two locations, yet, so not sure what is going on - perhaps some formalities to sort out; Bendigo was their first priority as they specifically promoted that.
The licence date for Niche in Swan Hill only appears to date to last week, for instance, and the various things in Hamilton to about June.
Was in Traralgon recently and went past the studios on Coonoc Rd.
SCA signage is now up:
It’s actually a return to the site for SCA as the GLV8 studios were on this site until the mid-2000s.
Forgot to mention what cheap merchandise that patch and jacket are of Mark Taylor’s in photo. Perhaps a DIY with sewing machine/overlocker?
With Tom Elliot last shift on Friday, 3AW drive is gone from 3SH and 2AY as both are replaced with local music shifts.
Seems to have been a change in decision, originally 2AY at least was planning on retaining 3AW drive.
Ace Radio chief executive Mark Taylor, who oversees 2AY and its Wangaratta sister station 3NE, said the existing relaying of 3AW programs would continue in 2024.
