Herald Sun reports that Paul Higgins has been suspended from on-air duties at the ABC and an internal investigation is underway after he continued to go to work whilst awaiting results for a PCR test, when he shouldāve been isolating.
The newsroom was stunned when Higgins stood up and announced he had just received a positive test, then proceeded to walk around the newsroom without a mask.

The article mentions how itās well known heās long desired to be the main news anchor. Youād wonder if he kept his PCR tests quiet so he can simply stay on-air to keep reading the bulletin over summer.

Thatās a pretty big thing there and if proven and true I can see that serious disciplinary action will need to be taken because if not itās going to end up being a big thing but also very detrimental to the other staff around him.
I wonder what heās been like throughout the whole pandemic then if that was his level of concern and then still continuing to be maskless - e.g. I wonder if heās an anti-vaxxer or conspiracy theorist about it all or just as above wanted to keep in the job although Iād imagine that would have been hard to do because somebody would have known he was positive and then going out on statewide TV kind of advertises that youāre not isolating!

You just canāt do that this day and age. If youāve tested you should isolate until it comes back. Imagine everyone working and then a mask less person comes and tells you āHey Iām COVID positiveā. I wouldāve been shook myself at that kind of situation.
If what he did was true then thatās just not on, no matter which network or company he works for, it is a morally and ethically wrong thing to do in these times.
