ABC News Content and Appearance

Is this not the same forum that whinges about how little local news is in the 7pm bulletin anyway?

It’s one night - ABC is the national broadcaster so has a wider role here than providing what is usually a dull, drawn out local bulletin on a Sunday as it is.

Which is the point.
Lack of local news on the ABC every night = Bad.
ABC axing the local news multiple times a year = Bad.

How about they provide an engaging and informative local bulletin every night?

They did show the whole thing, they have a whole news channel.

If only the ABC had multiple channels they could have used……Local news on ABC TV and the Day of reflection service on News24…

Simple??

Exactly.

And they stuffed up the weather at the end by showing the state by state forecasts for today (ie Christmas Eve), the day that had already passed, instead of tomorrow (Christmas Day).

ABC Late News returns to the main channel Monday 12 January 10:35pm

Something I never thought about while watching the 9AM Morning Bulletin on ABC TV is what happens in WA? Because in her intro Gemma Veness says “It’s 9AM eastern daylight, 6AM in the West” It triggered a question in my head.

Do they replay a bulletin that’s 3 hours old to WA at 9AM or do they broadcast the 12PM news as the 9AM news in WA?

Similarly what happens at 12PM WA time? I know that the ABC News Channel broadcasts live across Australia but what happens to the bulletins on the ABC TV channel?

Live on news channel

3hrs delay on main channel

That’s atrocious that they play 3 hour old news! They should just play the noon news at 9am and rebrand them all as ABC News and avoid references to the time of day.

Either that or they should broadcast the last hour of the morning block that aired at EDT and the last hour of the noon block that aired at EDT with the same hosts so that it’s only an hour behind. 3 hours just feels too late!

No they take the 12pm AEDT hour live into WA. Currently on the iView stream for WA they have Joe O’Brien, which matches what the NC has on now.

Excuse the quality

There is choice tho

You can watch it live on 24 or catch up later on 20 if you missed it.

I find it good if there is actual news happening to watch the news live on 24, if it’s a slow news day then you can watch the usual Sydney car crashes or Melbourne house fires on delay as background noise

No - it’s listed on the EPG as mornings, but it’s the live 12pm AEDT bulletin.

The ABC’s own EPG descritpion for WA is also different than the one for the rest of the country, which mentions Gemma Veness is presenting.

Scroll back on the live stream if you don’t believe me:

Then watch the 9am AEDT bulletin which clearly has a different presenter than in the live stream:

WA and ACT at the exact same time - both airing the exact same LIVE bulletin:

If they were getting the 9am AEDT bulletin on delay, they would be getting Gemma Veness from Paramatta.

Apologies for the low quality photos - iView doesn’t let me take screenshots

Ohhhh that is good then!

The 9am news has always been live into that state/territory on the main channel. Only News breakfast is delayed on the main channel.

NSW 7pm news had a weather preview earlier in the bulletin and it was presented in front of the video wall next to the desk. Looked much better than the curved wall.
