I see the ABC is running a new download the app promo with Jeremy Fernandez front and centre. Are they so NSW obsessed they don’t realise he’s now almost entirely a state-based/focussed personality? It’s incredibly jarring to have him in the promo in Vic, QLD, etc and no local faces. Either recut the promo with the state presenters or use someone national like Sarah Furgerson, Michael Rowland, James Glenday or Joe O’Brien.
It would also be good to have a prompt to stream the 7pm or catch-up on the bulletin on iview on the ABC News homepage, but they seem allergic to investing in anything local.

Next week, there will be a national 7pm bulletin on Wednesday-Friday (Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day) - Wednesday and Friday will be presented by Lydia Feng, while Thursday will be presented by Gemma Veness. Thursday’s bulletin will also be simulcasted on the News Channel.
WA will receive a local bulletin on Wednesday and Friday. WA will get a national bulletin on Thursday, however, it will be presented live from Perth as part of the evening NC shift.

No local bulletins outside of WA and NT tonight due to coverage of the memorial at Bondi.

Surely local news could air after the Day of Reflection ceremony coverage?
As important as showing the ceremony is, I don’t think it’s justifiable for the ABC not to find room in the schedule for a bulletin.

I agree - no reason why Spicks and Specks could be moved to another night, with other programs delayed if necessary.
They’ve described their coverage on the NC ticker as a “national bulletin”, so I presume there will be coverage of national stories, so no reason why they can’t find time for even something like a short 15-20 local minute bulletin.
Edit - national bulletin at 6pm, then coverage from 6:30pm.

Well done to the ABC carrying the full memorial but it shouldn’t come at a cost to local news, especially states outside of NSW.
Exactly - if they had enough time for a 30 minute national bulletin, then surely they could’ve given that time for the local teams

even on christmas eve and boxing day which is new must been some big cost savings there going on
7 and 9 are only one to do local news though those days since 10 is national for 2 weeks
Especially with a dedicated news channel. Typical ABC to abandon local news first chance they get.

Why do they do it?
Because the ABC felt the memorial service was of national significance.
Plus, could you imagine the back lash from Sky news if they didn’t show the whole thing…..
