Could at least put some additional information at the bottom one.
Local bulletins return Friday December 27 - NSW edition will also be simulcasted on the NC
Independent ABC conduct review submitted almost two months late
An independent probe into the ABCâs coverage of Australian soldiers in Afghanistan has been labelled âunacceptableâ after its findings were submitted almost two months late.
The final review, commissioned by the public broadcasterâs managing director David Anderson in September, was sent in by reviewer Alan Sunderland yesterday, it can be revealed.
This is despite Mr Anderson claiming in September the review would be delivered in full by the end of October.
The review by former ABC news director Mr Sunderland was set up to probe the ABCâs conduct in coverage of the Australian Defence Forceâs decorated November platoon, after Channel 7âs Spotlight program revealed now-deleted footage of a soldier shooting at people from inside a helicopter had additional gunfire sounds added to it.
âItâs now what, a week and a bit before Christmas. Itâs unacceptable,â (Former Special Forces Major Heston) Russell said.
What do we reckon? ABC will be so lazy and clueless that weâll see a NSW titlecard and sydney backdrop?
Or Parramatta backdrop.
They played a NSW title card during the afternoon shift yesterday so i wouldnât be surprisedâŚ
I think they play it often - whenever I see one of the evening NC bulletins from Melbourne, they seem to use very Melbourne looking titles
the Christmas bulletins will be coming from Melbourne not Sydney this year.
Jeremy is presenting from Melbourne the national bulletins.
Thanks - post has been updated
how strange! I guess heâs from there originally, isnât he? maybe back visiting family but also working.
Nope, after migrating from Malaysia his family came to Perth.
Might have some commitments in Melbourne
How many times can you misspell Ashgrove? Youâd think it might have been picked up sometime in the last 9 hours since it was posted.
From last year:
Prediction:
Despite it being a national bulletin, they still used the Melbourne backdrop:
They also used the Victorian titleâs at the start of the bulletin, however, they are also used for the evening bulletins that Melbourne does for the NC, so I guess itâs standard for national bulletins from Southbank.
Close enough to our prediction
That Melbourne backdrop is so out dated now.
What buildings are missing?
How many interstate people could recognize that backdrop though? Thereâs nothing that really screams Melbourne in that.
It doesnât have to have buildings missing to look dated, its been used for too long and just looks
dull. Definitely needs an update.
Itâs the newest part of the main Southbank set, did it coincide with the mid-life update of the black and white graphics or later on?
I donât think itâs dated but both generations of the Melbourne lightwell graphics have not been their best work - definitely dull.
The main recognisable towers are not prominent enough - like Eureka, Rialto, Australia 108, 101 Collins and Collins Place. It screams of someone doing a background not understanding the city, which is exactly what happened. I donât understand their choice to use Albert Park either, the angle of the city from Ruckers Hill in Northcote is much nicer, as is the view from Hawthorn/Camberwell. Or something tighter from the arts centre looking across the Yarra.
Melbourne also missed out on getting a secondary lightwell for sport like other states got. Tho they seemed to have been phased out in other states?
Saying all thatttttt, the worst part of the sets now is the white box blue background graphic. Now thatâs dated and looks very odd against the new smooth and flat graphics.
