ABC News Content and Appearance

I believe it’s the association that prefers the pronunciation

Maybe the Oz has been right all these years. Maybe the knuckleheads at Ultimo really do have no clue.

Probably a case of someone sent the same background for everyone.

Still can imagine the uproar if it had said NSW in VIC.

Did anyone else see the exclusive watermark used by ABC Perth on the shark attack story?

Former ABC senior executive Michael Ward, who has just completed a PhD in media and communications at the University of Sydney, has published an analysis of the broadcaster’s local content over the decade at the ABC Alumni website.

Tonight’s ABC News in Victoria was embarrassing.

Richard Willingham threw to his report, then it went back to the newsreader who said we weren’t ready for it. Then he went to the reporter at Lib HQ who couldn’t be heard. He then cut her off and threw to Richard’s report.

I’m sorry but I expect better from the ABC on such an important night.

They have half an hour of local news a night. They shouldn’t get it so wrong.

The ABC has stooped to AI journalists…

Where does it say that it is AI?

For all we could know it could just be the reporter not appearing on camera, or it being taken from a TV package.

The field reporter for this piece (that has the same vox pops from the athletes) has a different voice though:

The voice is not from the sport correspondent during yesterday’s Midday bulletin either (the only national bulletin that mentioned this piece):

Or the other video they have about this, which has the correct sequences but a different voiceover:

Either they use an alternative transcription for radio/podcast, or they’re indeed using text-to-speech (in-app or via other systems).

It should say that. It’s clearly an AI voice.

Some newish angles on the Victoria 7pm tonight. Good to see as they’ve got very lazy with them of late.

As seen/heard in this clip

It’s an interesting decision tbh, given someone has to write out the copy anyway.

AI-generated voiceovers if used properly, can be advantageous in getting more out there (especially on socials). Being able to ingest and process automatically could have some real benefits

Oops, ABC News Hobart showed the AFL match footage from 2019.

Expect a ‘Best of Stateline’ to be coming to news channel soon. Just like the old “Australia Wide”. Expect a green coloured set… possibly studio 11 in Canberra, The Insiders studio…

It’s already in the schedule for this Friday at 7:30pm, presented from Canberra by James Glenday.
