While SA is getting two or three stories a night, and maybe an extra one or two online articles on a normal weekday, somehow the ABC has the resources for a live blog for Taylor Swfit on a Friday night:
ABC News Management: No way someone will come up with a bigger and more intrusive watermark.
Bruce Gordon: Hold my beerâŚ
Donât worry, itâs not like it was locally made for Victorian audiences

So they are paying someone in Brisbane to blog a concert in Melbourne? And yes, I know that most of the ABCâs live blogs come from the digital team in Brisbane, but still, money would be better spent on covering more local stories.
The blogger in Brisbane wouldnât be impacting the SA bulletinâŚ
Still itâs questionable spending. The ABC should be held to account like any other government funded and media organisation. Would rather the ABC cover stories that arenât being covered by the media than cover a pop culture story being covered by every other news organisation in the country.
On Tuesday afternoon ABC news director Justin Stevens notified staff via email that the national broadcaster would replace the partnership with an internal fact-checking team, known as âABC News Verifyâ.
Stevens said Verify would be a âteam of specialists with the ability to scale up to support our special coverage in times of crisis. It will be part of the Investigative Journalism and Current Affairs team led by Jo Puccini.â
Why does the ABC use sponsored names for some things but not others? Like theyâll say âRed Bullâ for the racing team but âPerth Stadiumâ for the stadium.
Like I know why they donât use sponsored names but they donât do it all the time.
Whatâs the alternative/non sponsor name for Red Bull Racing?
They do it where there is no established alternative way of naming.
I noticed that they say âW-A-C-A groundâ instead of âthe waccaâ.

7pm bulletin timing in Victoria mustâve been off - the final report was cut off at the very end, then Paul Higgins did a very quick forecast and then closer, no music
The naming convention was explained during the Test the other week, with âW-A-C-A Groundâ used by locals but âshould always be used in the first instanceâ before âThe Wackerâ used thereafter.
Ah so itâs Western Australianâs making it weird for the rest of us.
This isnât right oddly enough. While Iâve heard it pronounced W-A-C-A ground over the years, as a local, we donât say that. We say the WACA.
Agreed. The only time I have ever heard it spelled out was by interstate commentators but in Perth it is always âthe wackaâ.
Thatâs what Ben Cameron said on the ABC
