ABC News (Channel)

Another week and still no new set. Are they only working on it for half an hour a day or something? Get a move on.

Pure speculation, but could the new news channel set look anything like this draft for the NSW set by Crayon Design Studio?

Oh god
More standing

Can’t they find seats fot every presenter?

Or is the budget too tight to afford presenter chairs?

The new ABC News Channel set. Where is it? A major investigation on Four Corners, Tonight at 8.30pm.

Sorry, couldn’t resist! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

In all seriousness though, I’m sure the ABC are (quite understandably) taking their time getting the new set for the News Channel ready because they don’t want any major stuff ups for the launch.

Look at how the launches of the current ABC News sets for NSW & Victoria were virtually flawless while Nine News Sydney (who likely fasttracked the launch of their current set, after Perth got theirs first) had a major automation fail on Day 2 of their current set!

I’d go as far as saying thats pretty much exactly what its going to look like. There website shows the draft of the ABC News NSW set above that picture so I am presuming this is what we will see for the news channel.

Hopefully it looks more like the Victoria news set than NSW.

That’s just a concept of the current NSW/Drum set (each come from opposite ends of the studio).

Unpopular opinion (maybe), but I like the standing presenters. Many radio presenters will broadcast while standing up to help with their delivery, I imagine it works the same way in television but the only difference is you get to see it. What’s the opposition to it?

Traditionalism? Personally I like the standing setup, but maybe there is a ‘unwritten’ rule that the main presenters sit down behind a desk?

Standing presentation actually improves the viewing experience as this completely ‘non-satirical’ promo explains!:

Weekend Breakfast is using the same headline opener graphics and white on the live cross, but still the supers and everything else from the News Channel:

Surely tomorrow is the day we’ve been waiting for? Right? It’s been so long!!!

Surely the share market situation warrants wall to wall coverage today? Exactly what a 24hr news channel is good for.

ABC is running their sequence of pre prepared content.

Are they still broadcasting with the “community TV” look from the newsroom?

From what I’ve seen this morning they are coming from NSW set.

Looks like this afternoon they are.
Good to see they have a better backdrop at the moment though. Reminds me of the old 9News media exchange for the national bulletins.

There must be some sort of delay. They’ve been coming from this set up for 7 weeks or so?

Since 6 January.
